I have saved £700 this year which I'm delighted about.  I've got one gift in, and starting to make a list of other bits that will be bought soon.  Unfortunately for me this year I will be doing most, if not all my shopping online, which I hate doing as I prefer the traditional walking around shops, and selects items etc.  The whole atmosphere, I love it.  But we are a shielding household here since March so we can't take any chances.  Hoping things change between now and December, but the way our numbers are going, even 1 week into our "circuit breaker" it's not looking good.

£50.00 from Quidco has just been confirmed, I'm sooo close to my target, not that I will be spending that much this year as we cant see anyone, and to be honest this year has been a write off and the moral of the story is to alway have a emergency fund and not to over compensate for others when you may need the funds to keep yourself afloat...

£623 saved now. I've started some of my shopping - DH has bought some books he wanted which have been put away and I have a couple of things for DDs which they chose but I paid for so a good start. I've bought sweets in my online shopping this week for some extended family and they'll get a bit of cash to go with the £1 sweets.
Family are asking what I want! Does anyone else have a problem thinking of things for people to buy for them?

No.66 (edit - sorry I added my MFW no. earlier) reporting in to have reached target

£368.70 (so I'm £2.70 over target) plus I'm hoping to get my Morries up to the £5 voucher and I'll definitely have a few pounds more on the nectar points.  Excited to be able to spend (or save) it all next month

Edit thanks KdGalway for running this thread.  Its the first year I've done this and I wasn't sure what to expect, but its really worth it.  I really didn't miss the £1 a day but its great to be up to almost £400.  Feels like magic

  • Not been online much lately but happy to say i’m now up to £335 - just one more month to go and I can open my tin.  Everyone is doing so well.  I’ve bought my Christmas cards but no presents yet, love the atmosphere of looking in shops with Christmas music playing in the background but don’t think that will happen this year 😞.

One thing I have bought is for myself - my shiny new tin for the 2021 challenge 😀

£15 added from Quidco, I have managed to hit target, so I have started to shop for Christmas, sorted out my sisters and my nieces and nephew, so that's a good start.

#36 reporting in with a final £634/£366 (No gym membership due this month due to Lockdown#2).  Will call it a day for 2020 but hopefully there will be a 2021 challenge - already have £15 in my sights to start it off.  Thanks to the OP for keeping us on track.  Happy Christmas to everyone (whatever form that might take) .

Total now at £683 plus £250 in high street vouchers and £180(plus bonus) on a$da card to pay for food in January! I don't think I'll be saving any more before Christmas, so I too will call it a day and start spending...
Thank you to those managing the thread, and I hope to see you all next year.
Merry Christmas everyone (as someone once said)

  • No.66 here again.  I'm now at £380.50 so cashing in 2020 (and will start saving towards 2021).

I've already bought myself a bird feeding station with my £10 Amazon voucher and have lots to spend the rest off.  Happy shopping everyone :smiley::smiley:
