    Evening all.

Just a quick fly-by to say that we kicked off our December shopping yesterday, with a £66.05 spend in MrT’s. It was carefully calibrated to get a “Spend £60 get 10p/litre off on fuel” voucher, so we bought a couple of extra multiples of things (e.g. toilet paper) that we won’t need immediately. Yesterday was the last day of that particular promotion.

The above brings our spending for December to £66.05/£129.90, leaving £63.85 in the kitty for the rest of the month.

    - Pip

(NB: Separately, we did another £60 spend on alcohol and chocolate for Christmas treats, so we both managed to get a voucher. The Christmas fund paid for that.)

2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge 66 coupons - 39.5 spent.

    4 - Thermal Socks from L!dl
4 - 1 pair "combinations" (Merino wool thermal top & leggings)
6 - Ukraine Forever Tartan Ruana wrap
    22 - yarn
    1.5 - sports bra
    2 - leather wallet
  • Hi, I'm late starting this month please can I put down £120 for December? That is for 1 adult for one week and then 2 adults for the rest of the month. Christmas food comes from another pot along with all other Christmas related spending.

I haven't spent anything yet because I've had 2 NSD. I'll have to buy some fresh veg today.

Please can you put me down for £300 for December (28th Nov to 26th Dec). I am still on November's challenge but have been crunching my numbers and have decided on my budget.

December budget is lower than usual as we are at various events and I have a separate budget for Christmas food as we are entertaining the masses.

Sounds like you have a lovely funfilled December planned! Enjoy! Budget added

    Hello ,
Have not done one of these with you all in years, but it will be nice to get back to it.

I would like to set my budget for December to £500 (I shop weekly on a Sunday , so 5wks for me) My normal budget is £110 a week. Now £100

Nice to have you back and good luck!
Hi all and thank you Elsiepac for running the thread.

My budget looks huge this month, but it's a five week months for me, starting on 29th Nov and the last shop being 30th December. So please put me down for £600 please. Writing that down made me gulp, looks like a massive budget, but it includes Christmas drinks , a Christmas Eve buffet for 8 of us and a couple of extra mouths to feed for 4 days over the Christmas period. Fortunately I get my Christmas bonus on payday, which covers the budget.

Good luck with this months challenge everyone.

Sounds like you are putting plans in place and are going to have a great Christmas!
Back in....I'm on annual but have lost the plot with that year - this is the last month before I get a total grip on the budgets again so I'm going for as little as possible and a maximum of £200 - that won't include solstice food as that has a separate budget ;)....roll on January when I feel back in control! :rotfl:

Well done for taking back control!! Budget added to monthlies

    Hi all

This is week two of my 5 week December food budget. Went to the local 'past it's best before date' food warehouse yesterday to stock up on treats, then got some proper food in Morries. So a total of £68.83 of my £250 budget has been spent.

I cooked a chicken at the end of last week which has already done a couple of meals, plus soup for lunches. Tonight it's risotto with a bit more of the chicken and some cooking bacon. Tomorrow chicken, veg and noodles then if there's still some left it'll go in the freezer.

I have a very short list for this week's needs, so am hoping I will be carrying forward some funds that can go towards the Christmas day food.

I wanted to do some baking today, but I forgot a couple of thing's, so called at co-op on the way back from an appointment, so £7.10 added, and toad in the hole cooked ready for tea, sponge cake is cooking and Christmas scone's are on the tray waiting to go in next.
    £71.93/ £180.00
  • We spent a total of £37.38 yesterday.

I'm having veggie and bean chilli with mashed potatoes for dinner tonight.
OH will be having beef stew and mashed potato for dinner tonight.

    £37.38/£215.
    £177.62 left.

  • £24.18 spent of the £150 budget £7.70 was cat food Rest mainly fresh stuff. Month is 27th to 26th for me. I'm sorry i've not been around lately - a mix of holiday and illness. I really appreciate everyone's replies with suggestions for my fruit and veg last month and i'm sorry i wasn't able to pop on and say so at the time.

I am a tad put out that our house sitter threw away my November receipts for final food spends :( Because they went through the receipts  and saw were only food shopping so not needed. No way to calc as a mix of cash and card and being ill i needed the receipts to keep track. I will declare final spend on November challenge with an extra £45 spent as i don't think would be too far away from actual spend.

I did say no treats for Xmas but will buy a bit of cheese and crackers i think as our treats, included in todays declaration was a tub of cheese i bought on offer for £1.
