Hi all
Just been to liddel to do my 'should last me til next week' shop. Only bought what was on my list so I am feeling very virtuous. I might need to top up on apples at the weekend (my son gets through up to four a day!) but I have everything else.
Am hosting a friend's birthday on Saturday - Lidell had some red wine for £2.99 a bottle so I'll be making some mulled wine with that. Everyone is bringing a dish so a thrifty celebration.
When I popped in to Morries on Tues I picked up 1.5kg of parsnips for 10p - I now have enough spicy parsnip soup to keep an army fed!! I also managed to get a £5 points voucher, so that'll help with the Christmas food!Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

Hi folks, I am still plodding away and keeping an eye on the food budget. I will do a wee add up when I get home from work to get my new total.
We haven't overspent this week I know but we have fallen back into the bad habit of nipping to the shop for 'a bit here and a bit there' several times rather than doing a proper weekly shop. This was part of the problem before because all those wee nips to the shop really add up without us realising it. Next week's food shop will be done in a bigger weekly shop which makes it easier to keep an eye on things for me.0 -
Went to Morries and spent my £50 of savings stamps, have £35 in vouchers to collect, so my December grocery bill will be very low, fingers crossed.Do I need it or just want it.0

DS1 is coming home for 2 weeks at Christmas and basically eats us out of house and home haha so I am going to try to keep the spends down as much as possible until then so we can have a little splurge later:)

PipneyJane, I managed to get out of the Scandinavian store having spent less than I'd intended; however that was because there was no-one to ask some vital questions about a couple of big items, so I didn't buy them! Apparently I'll need to go back that way in 10 days to pick DS3 up for the Christmas holidays, so I shall try again then. The grocers were as interesting as ever, and the Turkish Delight is safely stashed away until the Big Day now.
An NSD here today, and I did manage to steer clear of everyday grocery spending yesterday by doing chilli with the mince from the freezer, fresh tomatoes & other supplies from my store-cupboard, served with baked potatoes from the sack in the garage. I'm compiling lists right, left & centre; next week's preferred meal plan, Christmas & Boxing Day, and the week after. We have family guests for the whole of the festive period & several different diets going on; mostly omni, two pescatarians, one keto and DS3 who is in a dietary class of his own! Luckily almost everyone loves to cook, but we could really do with more than one kitchen at times like this!Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Hello everyone ,
I will do a big catch up read later, just popping in to say I did my first shop last Sunday and it was £85.90
which is a good under budget start. I have unfortunetly eat out quite a bit, so from one pan into the other. But going to put a stop on that until we are in the new year too. Doing shopping on Sunday again , so will update again then.
