Ooops! A very indulgent £5.80 spent at our local bakers this morning, on a large loaf, a freshly-baked baguette (gone within the hour) and some cinnamon buns. I'm whizzing about like mad this week, mostly on other people's errands, so haven't had time to bake and won't have any until Thursday. I did find the time to re-boil the medlar jam, and ended up with 7 jars instead of 9, but it has set this time.
I've never really done a meal-plan for this week. Off east across the Forest tomorrow, to the Grocers of Eastern Promise (mostly for festive supplies, like the essential pomegranate & rose Turkish Delight) & the Scandinavian furniture store, so it's anybody's guess what I'm doing for tea. I may haul some mince out of the freezer before we go, to prevent any unforeseen expenditure!Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Hi everyone
My week begins tomorrow, so I will be going to the SM with £35 in cash in my purse to last me the week, so will have to do a cupboard check before I go. I have tried meal planning but I don't stick to it, so I find it easier to do a basic shop and try to make do!! only buying other bits if absolutely necessary, it works for me but we are all different.

Did you escape the clutches of the Scandinavian furniture store without paying too much in Tribute, Thriftwizard? I am jealous of your Grocers of Eastern Promise; last month’s trip to WingYip didn’t yield anything as exotic as rose Turkish Delight (and they don’t stock bulgar wheat either).
