    Hi all,

Was wondering whether anybody received any documents from court yet? Seems like all these incidents happened over October/November/December, so just wondering whether UKCPS is taking any action against non-payers yet (or when will they, if they will).

Also, since the charge is now £130, are they allowed to increase it any further (that's what they told my girlfriend on the phone when she called to enquire about the charge) or is this the maximum they can take us for to the court?

    Thanks!

Never, ever 'phone a parking scammer or their scamlicitors.
If they 'phone you, hang up and block their number.

Any amount over the original charge is a fake add on unless a judge says otherwise. Read beamerguy's abuse of process thread to find out more about that.

I have been told that the MP for this areal (LP) has been contacted on several occasions about this scam. She has written to the Chief Exec of Manchester City Council about it.

I work for the BBC. I ill talk to a few people, see if anyone is interested in the story.
Worth writing to the MEN also.

FYI I went through the Kangaroo Court... and was rejected. I haven't paid it though. Hoping it will go to court now.

Sent an email to MEN - will post any updates :)

LOL, they can't get that sum as the alleged 'debt' in court.

The false charge was no more than £100; whatever was on the unreadable sign.

If these cases go to claims then they are eminently winnable on the failure of the Claimant, as regards the fundamental requirement of prominent and transparent terms on signs. This breaches the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

No-one should be worrying how much 'might' be claimed because the claims WILL FAIL if you all defend them (please do!), but the £100 (NOT £130!) has an extra £50 in court fees and £50 in 'legal costs' that can be added onto the claim form.

But so what? When you win you pay nothing, and you can claim your costs.

Could EVERYONE stop phoning parking firms. Please. NEVER NEVER phone them.

I wrote to my MP and her office said she has already written to the Council about this in the first instance as it is proving difficult to get an email address for the CEO of UKCPS.

If anyone has a contact email address please share it here. Thanks

I guess if you are passing that to your MP they may as well try, but don't email them yourself, this is pointless. The General Manager is responsible for what they do and how they operate so he is not going to 'sort this out' is he?! UKCPS are not to be emailed or phoned as if they are a normal company with a Customer Service team!

These are notorious ex-clampers who were featured on 'Rip Off Britain' in 2013 and repeated the following year, and were shown to be trading from a 'hut' or caravan, out of the back of the Blooming Rose pub in Leeds, according to 'The Sheriffs are Coming' on TV years ago, when they were chased for money after apparently not paying a proper Court Order re unfair dismissal of a hapless staff member.

  • Not posted in this feed before but have been reading,

I have emailed the land lord at Manchester Gateway asking them to have my charges removed due to in correct signage at the time of my stopping and sent proof of no visible sign when approaching from the left and new sign had been put up in December.
As expected they declined and told me to make my appeal UKCPS.

I have made no content with UKCPS and have now received my second letter, which pointing out I am outside the appeal process.

There is no email address to send a complete or Apple too.

Any suggestions on what I should do next as I want be paying them anything or giving them any driver details.

Await a court claim, if they ever do - they have 6 years.

Have you complained to your MP, the MP covering the site, to Andy Burnham (Mayor of Manc), the local press ...... ? Lots to do to stoke up the pressure there.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

First time posting- Sorry if it's in the wrong place
On 12th January 2020 - hung around for a few minutes in this area as son prepared to leave the car - catching train back to Army barracks. I helped load his backpack on at the side of the vehicle but never actually left the car. I received a £60 fine - UKCPS Notice To Keeper letter 6 days later. Should I follow all guidance on here re blue wording appeal letter?
    Many thanks
