  • I think an accuracy test is eventually where i will end up with this but just worried about the £200 charge before im 100% sure. As it seems an intermittent fault i dont want them testing it at a time its working fine....like today
    Current reading 6746
This seems ok as we have been at home with heating on and cooking the Sunday roast
  • My daughter had a similar issue a few months ago which I took up with EON on her behalf, upshot was a faulty gas meter and refund to her EON account. The energy companies aren't really interested as far as they are concerned the meter reading is the meter reading unless you can prove otherwise. See my thread below.

One of the issues of course is that this type of meter is what is known as an inferential meter and not a positive displacement meter. That means it uses another physical property other than positive volumetric measurement to infer the volume passed. In your case it uses an ultrasonic transducers to infer flow. They can go wrong. There have been cases of Eurometer E6s positively incrementing with no gas flowing.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Never realised the whole burden of proof is with the consumer and even after youve proven the meter to be faulty they play hardball...so much for privatisation and customer service, think.i may have a long road of stress ahead of me
  • Took the advice on here and videoed my meter for 90 mins with gas mains off and it went up 8m3 ....informed edf i have it on video and finally they are going to send an engineer round....but not until 23rd november

Its a very exciting video if anyone wants to watch

I suspect these energy suppliers are wondering why we don't trust them & even more why we don't trust their marvellous new smart meters. I suspect they are mostly illiterate, which doesn't actually surprise me that much. It could maybe just that they don't speak English which really wouldn't surprise me at all but would disappoint me.
  • There is nothing to stop someone adding a second gas meter (after the power company one) to check the existing meter -using a suitably qualified person.

It is quite common with electrics
    baldly going on...
  • I was originally told that they were going to fit a 2nd meter to check the readings of the first but then they cancelled that appointment told me my readings were fine and that it wasn't possible to have a test meter added for gas only electric meters can be tested that way.
