Our local garden centre reopened yesterday and we took a trip out. Queued to get in and OH said he will create a walled flower garden near the rose garden!
I've got poppies, fuchsias and alpines to go in, will let them self-seed and have a tended wild garden.
Then we made it to the fruit section and I've got a four stemmed gooseberry bush.  The fruit garden section is going to be next to the salad section, near the secret garden so I can tend to them too.
-- We are expecting fruit trees / bushes as housewarming gifts.
    Only spent £26.

OH has said all he is really doing this year is preparing the growing section, then next year it's going to be suitable for getting good veggies.

It's too warm for me to do anything outside at the moment, so I've had coffee and toast. My feet are up and I'm relaxing for a bit.

I've moved a bit of money to savings pots.

    Have a fabulous day!

Made the mistake of going into the garden and staying out for quite a while, I'm currently a bit red 🙈

OH planted some comfrey, apparently I need to look after it, nurture it and water it. I'm going to have to find out what it is and what it looks like 🤭

The salad bar has been made, dug over, compost added and dug in. Hopefully my seeds will start to arrive next week.

Having veg risotto tonight and the chocolate wafer ice cream for pudding.

    Have a good evening 🤗

My dad once fell off a ladder onto his foot & my mum made him a comfrey poultice for the pain & bruising. I don’t think you can eat it, not sure if it’s toxic / poisonous. I believe you can use it as a fertiliser though

Thank you SYA, just looked and apparently it's the small / young leaves that can be eaten. The plan is to raid the local nettles to make a comfrey and nettle fertilizer. I've put loads of aloe on my glowing parts 😁

Will remember to put suncream on tomorrow.

SW, enjoy! I may be back out for a test run of fire pit version two later.

The risotto was delicious; broad beans, cabbage, onion, carrots, celery and a veg stock cube, with plenty of fresh cracked pepper and a bit of butter on the top when served.

    Thank you SW.

Last night we went out to test the new and improved fire pit, got more ash for the growing garden. I tidied up the secret garden last night  and it's ready, aside from furniture.

Today I've done the washing up, washing and hung it.

OH came home with some tubs (free), I've asked for more, if he can get them.
I'm going to be planting 'greens' in two of them with wigwam canes to let them grow upwards. They will go on the path which runs in front of the secret garden; I have two access points.
The third will have the gooseberry bush planted in it and will remain within the secret garden.

My tomato plants are starting to flower and I've loads of buds on my roses.

I actually feel like I've done everything I wanted to this month and since moving in. Home is mainly organised and not much more can be done until the lounge has the cupboard turned into shelves.

I can get on with pottering around, planting and enjoying what I've wanted since starting over 🤗

While I was working OH made a start on the shared path. So far the old slabs have been taken off and the soil removed. He is looking to get that finished tomorrow and will be putting a load of hardcore down, putting shoring eitherside, backfilling it, then putting the slabs back on. Again, all this is recycled from the path and our garden to keep costs down.

I'm getting loads of flower buds on my tomatoes and the one pepper, my roses are full of little flower buds too. Need to pop out in a bit to water everything.

Went to Mini Me's birthday party late this afternoon. We took our own plates and cobs, nipped to the butcher to get burgers for the BBQ.
We all had homemade birthday hats, cake and a lovely time. Was so sweet being called aunty and seeing my OH playing as he gets on so well with his niece.

Was in full sun and I've a feeling I'm going to erupt in cold sores by the morning!

I've transferred £86 to savings so far this month.
