This is going to sound bad, but I'll have to think of ways to spend money in retirement if I accrue too much across my pensions.

Without the mortgage it's £7765 per year for all our outgoings and some savings, cutting out the takeaway's and other indulgent things reduces that to £6565py, ditching the car saves even more. We just don't have the lifestyle like most people do.

TomBo is visiting MIL next week as she's having a minor op. He is a big softie at heart. I'll study into the evening while he's away and have a few earlier nights!

I'm struggling to get going this morning, been looking at my laptop for an hour but have yet to start condensing my book. Doesn't help I've a niggling little headache.

Wind is picking up and it's drizzling, which probably explains the headache, unless it's TOM time.

Had a banana smoothie and hope it's enough to avoid a problem with me taking OTC for my head!

  • Thanks Skinty and SH

We couldn't go away for long periods as we'll have cats.

Even with a mortgage I can strip everything back to £783, down further with a couple of tweaks 🤫 it's how I managed to drag my money out for the study break.

I went back to bed for a few hours this morning, didn't sleep but it cleared my head.

Found a cheap copy of one of the books I need for doing the resit, cost £11.25, saved me about £28!
    - I'll get the other book I need for the exam after I've sat this one, unless I find a cheap copy over the next few months.

I will do a resit for that module rather than taking the whole course again. I'm effectively self-learning my current module and can do it again with a subject I've previously been taught.

Studied until 7pm and have half a page left of this chapter.

Had saag aloo for tea and got my feet up watching TV.

  • Glad your headache has cleared. At least you know you will have enough money to more than just survive in retirement. I’ve been considering retiring now and living off house sale by moving back up north. Houses are £100k cheaper

DItto so glad you rested. You must have a study free day or part day as it is v difficult to study intensely for long. Well done on CC payment. I hope you are chilling.

Thanks Skinty I did wonder why you're not relocating now, rather than going through all the stress of selling and buying when older.  To me it makes sense to do it now, maybe get some PT / as hoc work after settling in but most of all knowing you are retired and free to do what you want, when you want, is a bonus.

Thanks SW, sadly no rest as too much to do.

I've set a hard deadline of the 16th to have the book condensed (6 + 1 I'm doing chapters to be done), as that's exam booking week.

It will leave me the rest of October to update the 4 chapters I'd done off the old book from my new book.

With 11 weeks after that to revise, learn, do mocks and be exam ready.

My schedule is very tight as I've 4 exams to pass in 37 months 🥺

I am working on my new 40 page chapter having finished the other one off when I got up.

Oh boy, this chapter is just so jumbled! It's covering 5 topics and I'm having to supplement the book with online reading to make sense of what the woman is on about ☹️

I'll hopefully finish it tomorrow and that will leave me 6 chapters to do by the 16th, with 4 chapters to check / tweak by the 31st.
    - writing this to help me keep track the next couple of weeks and encourage myself.

We have been to T, spent £24 on supplies to make sure I'm fed and watered while TomBo is away next week.

Got my feet up watching a film.

    Good luck with your studies.

    I bet you'll miss Tombo's cooking.
