Thanks MovingForwards, I evened my nails up with the clippers on Friday (why do I always end up with long and short ones), found out a brand new emery board, then popped a single coat of polish on.  For some reason they look the same length now, much smarter  .  Of course with just a single coat, after cooking and washing up yesterday, they are a little bit worn on the ends today.  So on Sunday  I will do two coats and a top clear coat.  I've a small bag of polishes so it costs nothing and they seem to have lasted through lockdown.

  • Loving all the self care talk. (Looks down at nails) I will add hands to my self care list. I have a nail file, nail polish, hand cream  and a hand scrub so I have no excuses :)

Aside from one nail, they're all back up to their usual length.

I'm still a bit shaky with pain and can't do my lashes at the moment, hopefully a bit later I'll be ok to try.

With my pampers they're simple things which make me feel slightly more feminine and human, even though I prefer to wear jeans, vests and pumps; it's dresses I live in at the office.

I think I'll be sitting on my hair by the time it will be 2 years since I last had it cut! Switching to the ginger shampoo, my hair isn't falling out so much and starting to thicken up again; obviously skin conditions have affected it all these years.

What I'm trying to do is pace myself, eventually I'll look how I want to and with ease. Ideally I'll have nice brows and lashes, with long wavy hair, and I just have to get dressed and add lip gloss before walking out the door each summer, winter is just pure survival.

I've volunteered to work across our different, unmanned, offices, provided fuel is covered. Doubt I'll get taken up on it as they seem to like spending money unnecessarily and not utilise existing skills.

Anyhow, we've had snow, high winds, freezing temperatures, rain, sun this week. The sun felt so nice on my face.

TomBo has been for his run and another pair of trainers arrived, this time for road / path use and he nipped to the local bakery for rolls, came back with valentine's cakes.

I've raised the freezer and tonight we're having burgers.

    Enjoy your tea.

I can't imagine having such long hair (again). I like it pretty short these days...

  • Thanks SH, unfortunately TomBo's thoughtfulness has caused a huge IBS flare up.

It would make sense for me to have my hair cut off, be easier for me to manage each day rather than brushing it a few times a week, but I'm not willing to do so.

If you get pleasure from your hair that's great - I always struggled to manage mine.

Sorry your IBS is playing up.

  • Thanks SH
I'm probably still rebelling as there was always threats to have it cut off when I was little, it wasn't even the length it is now.

I've stopped procrastinating and dyed my lower lashes. Taking onboard everything the salons have done over the years, I did the total opposite!

Dabbed my under eye area with water and stick some toilet roll under the lashes. Pulled my lower lid down away from my eye and started applying the mix like mascara, flipped it to the other end and painted it on, before slowly putting my lower lid back in the normal position. For the next eye I just pulled the lower lid down, painted it on and put the lid back in place.

Washed both off after a few minutes, pulling the lid down and carefully wiping with damp cotton wool. I had a good look in the mirror. Repeated the application starting with the opposite eye, painting the pulled lower lid lashes and again removed after a few minutes.

I've consistent coverage over all lower lashes and had absolutely no dye go in my eyes, unlike at the salon, nor has it ended up all over my face. This is due to careful application rather than smothering the lashes (sorry beauticians!).

Next step is to figure out how to do the upper lid lashes, or not bother with those and just do lower lashes and brows.

The amount I mix would be enough to do everything in one session.

A magnifying mirror would make life a lot easier, as all I have is a normal one, and I switch the ceiling light on. Steady hands and a comfortable position are a necessity.

  • Sounds very fiddly but I bet it looks great! Maybe you can get a magnifying mirror with lights round it?
