Wine glasses etc packed, I'm that organised I've lost my marker pen and tape 😂

Think I could do with some time off work now to get all the packing finished, but reluctant to do it as I want the time off for moving / unpacking and settling in. I have gone very tired again today which isn't helping.

Had a look at my mortgage papers again, as it's been a while, so I know how the first payment works and when it would be due, all depending on my completion date.

Bit of money moved to savings, will move a chunk across on payday and earmark the home insurance payment.

Having roast chicken and veg tonight, got my feet up and will watch a movie later. May even have ice cream as it's been a lovely blue sky again today.

Forgot it was payday today, even though I knew last night. Thank goodness I have a reminder pop up!

My S&S are starting to stabilise and I'm still adding more in over my usual monthly payment, on an as hoc basis, throughout the month.

Decided to splash out on a PB this month, I haven't purchased one for a few months.

Savings are starting to look respectable, but I haven't moved over the full amount yet in case anything pops up.

Moved my home insurance payment to my house pot, that's ready to go when I start the home policy, will pay in full rather than instalments.

Moved some money to my car expenses to cover admin fee / any additional premium due to moving.

No packing today as I've not got the energy, will be double packing tomorrow to make up for it.

Waiting the completion statement from the solicitors and confirmation the seller does have a set of keys. So far, still on track for my proposed date.

Moved a little bit to savings.

I can see why people say this is stressful!

No packing today, working at home is starting to hurt a lot / flare everything up and I desperately need to prioritise my office area when I move; need to buy a cable to connect the laptop to my PC screen and hopefully have some space. Work will deliver my chair when I've moved and agreed if anything happens to it eg my cat furs it up or uses destroys it, I'm not responsible.

I'm having a long weekend due to the above and also everything else going on. Over the next few weeks I will be having a bit of time off each week. Also been quite 'edgy' and 'unsettled' today, which is normal for FTB.

Moved a bit of money to savings, its nice to see them starting to go back up again. They should start to increase quite nice from my next payday, but not at the rate they did before!

Bathroom in rental has had its first coat of paint, will get another tomorrow, spares and second tub will be used on my lounge when I complete.

Must buy my curtain rails for the bedrooms, as the blinds will not be enough to keep the sunrise out.

Need to plot the final layout of my lounge, but once I get the keys and do a sweep / clean of the flat, I will be better placed for making decisions.

    Chicken stew for tea.

Good that you are trying to balance things. Other than our pension our homes have brought us the most lasting wealth despite there being years when its value went down or stood still we have gained significantly overall. As long as you are planning to be there for the long term it should work out and as you've said you are saving on your monthly payments anyway. It will be lovely for you to have a place you can put your own stamp on and get your own artwork up etc.

@savingholmes with my pensions I can stick with the ones I have, SP and my DB one, any additional pension I start is a retirement bonus. That's why I can delay my decision until the end of the year before starting it.

I'm not planning on moving, if at all, but who knows how I will feel as retirement approaches, maybe that bungalow will be on the cards, maybe it won't. For now, well very soon, I will enjoy my own home.

My financial plans are still to round up and make small overpayments this year, save into my pots and see where the world is in the New Year when I re-evaluate everything, as I've done each year.
