OMG, I am sooo sorry. God Bless her.

  • I'm so sorry to hear that, MF. Will be thinking of you xx
  • Thanks SH, SW and RL

In true me style, my head's rushing all the plans to make sure I've worked each thing out. At the same time I feel I'm focusing so much on everything and I'll snap without warning and probably at a critical time.

Maybe this is me and the way I cope, I don't know.

  • I am so sorry to hear about your mum MF. Your head will be all over the place for some time. It’s probably the way you cope. I went into the same mode when my mum passed away, swinging between utter despair and action mode sorting repatriation, funeral arrangements and probate.

Just take your time, be kind to yourself and don’t worry people will understand you are grieving.

I was writing my earlier post and put my phone down when the immense red sky flooded the views through the lounge windows. I sat watching it, without the urge to take photos, appreciating the moment. Returning to my phone to finish writing my post, I got the news. Maybe that was the goodbye for both of us.

I'm sitting with snoring cat, to give TomBo a chance of sleeping.

Bless him, he tried so hard to comfort me at various points and even said I've got his mom, she'll look after me; he has a way with words at times!

My alarm is switched off and the countdown is over. I made it by default and we all can stop wondering if I'm nearly there yet. Slightly longer holiday than I expected to have and I can turn my attention to my new role later this month.

I'll probably be pottering around the flat, vegging out on the sofa and procrastinating when it comes to sorting out the spare bedroom.

  • Just take it a day at a time or even an hour at a time, whatever works for you. Rest when you can, sleep when you can and remember to eat, however little or whatever you can manage. Good on Tombo doing his best. We are all thinking of you x

I have done some work today, I wanted a clear conscious and not have it nagging at me. I've definitely reached the end of my journey.

It seems to be 1 minute blocks I'm living in.

I've called the funeral directors for a revised quote to what was sent to sibling to remove the optional extras they included 🤔 sibling is going to contact another for a quote as it's the funeral home fees which are so expensive, the funeral itself isn't.

Coroner is involved, which may give us breathing space, and I'm trying to guide sibling still, but gently. Hopefully furball is comforting.

TomBo is checking up on me too.

I'm trying to draft email to new employer, but having it checked by nice agency woman before I send it.

I am so glad you have left the other place. Now you can focus on yourself and your mum. You are so good at organising you will make your mum even more proud that you are helping to sort things out.  This is so stressful and i am sooo sorry for your loss. Please if you can try to set some you time so you can try to treat yourself over the next few weeks, sending all my love, swx

  • I can understand you doing some work if it helps to keep your mind at ease.

I’m sure you can get a reasonable price.  I found the coroners office very reasonable to deal with but this was pre-Covid so not sure if that has caused delays. Thankfully most of DM’s costs were covered by travel insurance and a pre-paid funeral plan. Don’t feel you have to go overboard with extras though.

Try and get some rest too.

I'm organising the funeral, second quote received and they were so much nicer to speak with. Sibling is doing the house sorting, I'm giving directions to assist.

New employer is being very nice, dropping me thoughtful messages at various points. I am starting on my agreed date, but will take a few days off for the funeral.

TomBo won't tell me why he's worried about me and is still worried even though he's home.

Feet are still up and we're watching TV.

We've had beef stew for tea.
