Totally different swimming experience with SIL!
Started off with some bobbing and got off to a couple of false starts with lengths as I'd suddenly lose confidence. Sorted that out and went for single lengths with a breather before doing another. After a while we would do a length, turn and swim back without stopping, take a few seconds to breathe and do another set.
Spent about 2.5 hours in the pool, don't know how much we did as I stopped counting, but we got a good workout. Cost £10.20 for both of us.
    - Cake and hot chocolate afterwards was much needed 🤭

Next swim session when I'm on holiday, next play session is Sunday; might be a regular thing and all helps with movement.

SIL has given me some magazines which will assist with my knowledge for my new role, she also told me about a qualification; will look into it and can make a decision later next year.

Somehow made it round T, picked up meat, veg, snacks, yoghurt etc spent under £30.

Washing is done and hung up, tea is cooking, I've got my feet up and may stay this way all night.

    Tea is beef stew.

  • Swimming is great exercise even the bobbing about is getting you moving. I can only swim with my face out of the water which unfortunately triggers my neck pain. The physio told me to try backstroke but then it is carnage when I can’t see where I’m going & the pool was too busy 😆

Hope you stayed with your feet up and enjoyed your stew

  • Thank you SH and Skinty
I'm the same and it's more comfortable doing something resembling the backstroke. What I did is memorise key parts of the roof, as I then knew how far I was from each end. Due to it being a school day there were a lot less people around and we all worked out which parts to use and the routines to time when we'd safely pass each other.

I've looked into the membership SIL suggested, it lead me to courses and qualifications, there's great options and will make a huge difference to my new role. It's very exciting!

After my compulsory rest yesterday, I'm able to move around again 😊

I've picked a load of runners, borlotto and some dwarf french beans. Have to shell the first two and they will go into jars for winter soups and stews. It's not the weather for planting onions and garlic, but I think it was November I finished getting them in last year.

Popped to the butcher, got haggis, sausage, joint of beef and mince spent £38.

TomBo is batch cooking today / tomorrow, meals for the next week are:
    Pork steaks and veg (today)
    Roast beef and veg (tomorrow)
    Beef and mushrooms
    Spag bol
    Sausage, mash and onion gravy
    Chicken curry
Pork steaks and veg or rice

Plans for today are rest, read the mags, shower and pack swim bag.

    Thanks SH, LW2G and Skinty

My veg picking and butcher trip was enough to see me on a compulsory rest again. However, I did manage a leg pamper and shower yesterday.

There's a huge difference with the swimming timings and that does dictate what I do when in the pool. I'm contemplating sorting membership out as even 3 days a month is cheaper than paying for each session and I can slot in a Friday on my way home.

I'm absolutely ecstatic to be offered the new role and they mapped out my future just off the back of my CV.  I am hoping a more stable role, knowing what I'm doing on a daily basis, with occasional stress, will be a lot better for my health.

I couldn't change roles before until TomBo secured one. It looks like fate / destiny stepped up at the right time as he had to wait a few months to get his start date. He settled in quickly, has his group of workmates to chat with and appears to have taken to the role well; he does have the option of moving round within the company.

TomBo is batch cooking today, I'll be resting this afternoon.

Better get ready as it's swimming bobbing time!

That's my thinking too LW2G, had TomBo been given a quick start date when initially offered the role, I may have missed the one I've got.

Managed 4 lengths, some quarter lengths and a lot of play. Best of all SIL taught me how to swim like a frog (don't know the correct name) and coordinate arms / legs; I've been able to do the arms, but the leg part never made sense.
The lifeguard even gave mini me tips and demonstrated a few things, I may have paid attention too 🤭

I now feel confident to swim alone 😊 my plans are Friday's after work and Sunday mornings. Build stamina, distance and agility in a controlled environment, next year join SIL for 'wild' swimming and see what happens next!
