Weather can't make it's mind up this evening, sunny, rain, sun, hot.

Spent £1.99 on a bottle of pop this morning, that was my breakfast, lunch and snacks. As expected I didn't get out on time today.

Even though it was raining, I wanted to spend 10 minutes in the garden to clear my head, but TomBo came out to quickly water things. Trying to think while watching TV and I may have worked a few things out.

TomBo transferred some of the money the neighbour gave us, I've refunded the car pot I borrowed from for the plants.

Had spaghetti bolognese with cheese for tea.

    2 days until payday.

  • Pop for breakfast, lunch & snacks ? You are running on empty. We don’t want you being ill. Bolognaise & cheese for tea sounds more healthy. Well done on topping back up the car fund.

    Thanks Skinty
It was a mega early start, I didn't stop from the moment I was in. It's rediculous, totally unrealistic expectations and it won't come as a surprise but even more stuff has come my way. So reminds me of one of my old jobs, do loads more, even more, people leave have more to do for the same salary.

    I'm still wound up.

It sounds like a totally ridiculous job and you know this. Stick with what you have and they should pay you for your extra efforts. Try to rest work is like this it is so mean. Please put your health first, think of the garden and allotment and your lovely house. Work can stick it!

I agree with SW. What would happen if you didn’t do it all and walked out to take a lunch break ? You will be burned out if this continues, it seems like the more you do, the more they will give you. Please take care of yourself.

    Thanks SW and Skinty
If I didn't do it, it would keep building up. I would get extremely stressed and my health would quickly go down the pan.

I've called a meeting and have pretty much worked out what I'm going to say word for word. Worst case is I apply for that other job, or any of the others popping up.

Had left over spaghetti bolognese for tea.

    Soon be Friday.

    April financial roundup, saved:

    £400.59 into savings
    £56.88 into car pot
£140 into pension and early retirement
    £200 into mortgage O/P

I've not done any surveys this month. Something had to be dropped and that was the easiest thing, with little overall impact on long-term goals.

    Plan for May:

Thinking about the best way forward, I do want to pay down / clear the mortgage quickly. For now I'm stopping the monthly S&S and PBs - early retirement fund - and increasing the O/P to £200 per month.

    Pay £110 into my SIPP.

Put £200 across savings and £100 into car pot.

Payday today, briefly got money until direct debits come out and money gets transferred to savings.

Had my meeting, said I'm enjoying the responsibility and experience, receive thanks but want to be paid extra as I'm covering a higher grade and have saved them money due to them not getting a temp in. I was extremely open about everything I've been doing, the longer hours and how I can't book proper time off. Most of it wasn't even known I'm covering it, which didn't surprise me.
I'm being supported to take this extra money request forward and have to provide details and examples; good job I keep all emails filed and can methodically work through it all to collate the information.
When I did a similar exercise in a different job it took me 2 weeks, this I've got to get done by tomorrow 😟
    - I doubt anything will come of it, tried it twice in a previous job and both times I got knocked back.

Popped outside and it's as if something is taking soil from my pots and around the garden, it's not soil displacement but actually vanishing, leaving a gap where it was. Very odd and thankfully I sow excess seeds.

My gooseberry flowers are turning into little berries.

Inside the flat it's very exciting with my little seedlings turning into plants, my squash and melon seeds have grown and I'm confident some of the black russian tomato seedlings will turn into plants.

This weekend I'm going to start potting up more of the baby tomato plants but keep those inside until they're bigger, get the fruit netting set up, plant some of my peas and beans outside but put thin fleece round the frame until they start attaching to it as I did with the peas.

Had sausage, mash and cabage with a homemade onion gravy for tea 🤭

  • A fellow gardener hurray! I am quite the amateur but am trying my hand at a veggie patch for the first time this year. Fingers crossed.
