Thank you DIA and Ren.
One of my savings accounts allows me to set up numerous pots in it, so any new ones or not urgent pots tend to go into that, things like structural communal repairs and my EF (mortgage) are in higher interest rate accounts.
Today I attempted to do the hall, unfortunately I could only go up two steps and not force myself up the third. So I've managed ²/3 of the porch walls section. TomBo has said he will do the ceilings and upper walls, that's probably on hold until after Christmas due to his shifts.
I've been successful with a lampshade for the hall 🤗, greens yellows and white which will complement the abstract art.
- just have a nervous wait to see if it makes it up here in one piece. Glass, 90+ years old 🙈-- will decide the lower wall colour when it arrives, with approval!
Putting the final touches to the lounge, unfortunately removing masking tape from the door has taken some paint with it in parts. Will be carefully touching up by hand.
Haven't ordered the door handle as where I had planned to go they were slightly smaller than what I took off. As the one I'm replacing has been on for 40+ years, there's a visible mark (when standing by it) so I'm on the hunt for the bigger ones.
Outstanding tasks:
- Remove unit stuck screw and fit new handle.
- Touch up door.
- Fit draft excluder round skirting gaps.
- Find and buy lounge door handle.
The lounge looks pretty good, for a temporary makeover, it's not perfect, but a vast improvement 😁Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -
OMG new sofas. I will catch up. Hope you are not too achey. hugs, swxAiming for a minimal spend 20222

Masking tape's a pain, isn't it. I always have to go in and retouch. I've got all my fingers crossed for the lampshade's safety.2

Thank you SW and Atrixa.
I've been having loads of breaks to make sure I don't overdo it.
The lounge is as good as done, there's about 30 minutes of work left!
- remove stuck screw and refit unit handle.
- scrape paint off lounge door.
- fit skirting draft excluder.
- buy and fit lounge door handle.
I've managed to bid and buy the flycatcher shade for the lounge (pink and white) 🤗 need to buy and fit new ceiling roses to secure the shades to the ceilings, but will sort that out in the new year. Total cost for the two shades, including post £64, that will still come in at under £100 when I order the roses and new fittings for today's one. I doubt I could have got nice new ones for that. An anxious wait for them to arrive 🤫
- TomBo approved both of them, the colours tie into their respective part of the flat.
I've put all the accessories into place in the lounge, TomBo likes how it looks now too 😯
Getting the coffee table from MIL in a week or so and have the accessories ready for that.
I've tried to go for the minimalist look for line of sight, our two desks never will be so it's a good compromise!
The mix of new, reproduction and original art deco all compliment one another. I think I've pulled off what I wanted to achieve 😁

Thanks Ren and SH.
I'm hoping to pop out today, just to the local shops, do a little filing and a bit of cleaning, plus a bit on the lounge as that missing unit handle is bugging me; is it too early to use a drill 😁Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2 -

I know SH, 30 minutes with various drill bits, numerous attempts with the extractor and I'm no further forward with getting that screw out; it takes minutes normally to bite into the stuck one, keep going down the length and then unscrew it out.
Will see if TomBo can do it, if not then drill a new hole slightly above, bash and break it free or reposition both handles. The plate part should hide the old position.
Went out this morning and called into the chemist, picked up an OTC lower dose version of one of my meds but soluble; the prescribed ones in tablet form give me side effects and no pain relief even after taking them all day.
- I happened to have left a few of my old soluble meds at work, took them home when I was last in and have been eaking them out when things were extremely bad, so I know the tablet ones are just not working; they never have and previous GPs switched them to soluble.
I'm tempted to send a long email to the surgery, setting everything out as they should have my medical records by now.
- Must have this sorted out by the time I'm back in the office as I won't cope with the commute and transfers between buses, let alone getting around the building and trying to do my job.
The utility company are looking into my complaints, they think the problem is with the addresses and someone may need to attend to check all the meters for all the properties, updating the right MPNs for each flat. I sent a suitably sarcastic email back confirming I've said that all along 🤨
Just going to relax today, watch some Christmas films, paint my nails and nothing else; it's already starting to get dark and I've grumbled enough in this post 😁

I hope you managed to relax and find suitable films for today. Ohhh nails sound good what colour did you go for.
So frustrating when people don't listen and then all of a sudden pretend something is their idea.
