  • I've got too much to do DIA before I finish and hitting brick walls whichever route I take; unfortunately lunch breaks are a thing of the past, as are normal working hours.

My crash happens because there's no in-between, full on at work then nothing when I finish. There's not much left in my batteries now.

  • That sounds tough MF. I hope you can manage until you are able to pull back.
I always found if I didn't stop at a certain point for a few hours I would have a big crash and would be forced to stop for a few days. Take care.

  • Thankfully someone used common sense and part of the stress has been reduced, it's taken months though.
I cried with relief and went outside to the garden for 10 minutes. I miss pottering in the garden and realised how much it helps reduce stress levels.
    - Christmas day I will be outside pulling up carrots, parsnips and beetroot 🤗

I finally got round to potting up my rosemary cuttings, will harden them off in spring and then add them to the herb garden, if they survive.

I've put another coat of gloss on one side of the door. Will keep alternating one side a day over the next few days to get that finished.
    - I'm guessing there's about 3 hours of actual work needed to finish the lounge. It's always awkward waiting for paint to dry before being able to do more.

TomBo has been in the garden, the stump hole has been totally filled and he is still chipping away at making the shared path; this section is where the monster tree damaged it.

    Payday and holiday very soon.

Glad work situation is going to improve. I have been exhausted this week too and last week was watching colleagues fall asleep on a video call. I think it is the time of year and the general situation. We are all wiped out.

  • It was a one off SH for a certain thing, not ongoing help. I'm still left to get to grips with things and having to figure it out or keep chasing for someone to tell me so I can learn.
My own job changed a lot because of being at home, so I've had to learn all of that, plus learning and covering the other role. It's got me thank yous but quickly forgotten.
I ended up cancelling all my meetings after yesterday, when I had back to back ones, which served no purpose aside from taking me away from my workload.
Unfortunately, it's not going to be any easier when I return in the new year.

I know a lot of people are struggling.

Sounds like a very tough time at work but glad you have a little help.  I also think mentally everyone just needs this year to be over.
You are doing amazingly well to keep ploughing through the DIY with your tough work situation going on aswell. Try to take snippets of time to rest and enjoy your home and garden it all sounds lovely.

  • +1 to what everyone has said. I recall knowing you have a break/hols coming up really nibbles away at focus on work so it feels a lot harder. I know you can do it! The cat says you can buy some soothing bath salts from her special tub, or, nice scented shower gel and have a long hot shower. She will then gently pummel you up and down your back so you have to lay down or she will fall off!  :)

  • Thank you SH, LW2G and Ren.
Each quarter has felt like a year, each day is now feeling like a month. It's just because I've not had any proper time off this year. I crammed moving into a few days, unpacking into a few half-days and the weekends. The next few days I had off together ended up with me returning to cover two roles.

I miss pottering around the garden and somehow will find a way to do something all year round. I must see what winter clothes I have and can use; if I do get offered an allotment, I can't not work it during winter.

I'm enjoying doing the lounge up, even if white is a word which can cause a thousand sulks. I've been using what we watch on TV as a way of knowing what colours / shades are no.
We were watching something yesterday which had wood panelling, the sort that's in grand houses, and said that's what I'm on about for the main wall, then we can put pictures, ornaments and other things in it, that got an agreement but not all white! I'm thinking white frame with colour inner panels or do the whole thing a pastel of his favourite colour.

Can't spend her pocket money, even when she buys us gifts somehow we end up paying for them. I want to be a cat 😁
