It was my morning photo today 😊
There was snow in the garden, TomBo sent me some photos and warned me not to go out 🤭

Done another batch of base coat. Just need to get another coat on the third unit doors, the door frame and one side of the door before I turn my attention to the remaining skirting, then the glossing begins.
-- need to start filtering in painting the walls and ceiling to keep on schedule; doing both by brush as woodchip and artex respectively.

The base paint has a slight dirty sock smell, not overpowering and only when next to it while using it, but it gives me a headache. I'm hoping the gloss doesn't smell too much as the temperature has dropped quite a bit and I can't have the window open for long!

Have to do some filing / shredding the weekend, I've neglected that side and just been dumping it on my desk 🙈

Having a no-DIY day today. Finished work, stood up, looked at what I was going to tackle and was told to sit down and rest. TomBo thinks I've no chance of getting this room finished before I break up ☹️
-- double DIY days to prove him wrong 🤭

Been trying to deal with the gas / electric.
-- There is no gas meter registered to this flat, nor is my meter number registered anywhere. I have to wait for someone from the distributor to come out, then I can pick a supplier and start paying for gas from that point.
-- I've sent off another complaint to the alleged supplier of the electric and threatened to contact the ombudsman next, helpfully suggested they escalate my complaints to a senior handler who will see what the issues are and how they need resolving. I will collate everything over the holidays and email the ombudsman with all the evidence as I've no confidence it will get sorted out.

I'm making good progress with clearing the 'missing' O/Ps.

    Having pork tonight 🤗

  • It’s good to have a rest day every now and again, even if we can’t see it ourselves and have to be told 😆

Good luck with the gas & electric.

  • I had to fight the urge to pick the paint up and get stuck in all evening, even now I want to do some! Instead I've been hatching a plan to still meet my 14 day countdown 😁

Hi MF just see the rest day as giving you extra DIY motivation tomorrow.  You sound very much like me with setting out to fo things and going strong til you get them. Tge thing that makes me most determined is someone saying I can't do something do sounds like TomBo has helped you there.

  • You are well organised and you will do it, a little enforced rest day has only made you more determined, but gives you a chance of a breather. Very pleased for you! :)

  • Thank you LW2G and Ren.
TomBo has wrapped me up in loads of cotton wool since we got together, won't let me carry anything aside from my handbag, doesn't like me doing housework or anything more than a potter in the garden. If I do shopping he looks for when I'm pulling up and comes out to grab it; I only have access to the car when he's around as he uses it for work.

Doing the decorating is showing him I can do things, I can pace myself and I've got that strong, determined streak in me!

Just finishing my coffee, then it's time to start. I had planned to begin at 10am.

We've had snow, there's been a few road closures and the bridge which shouldn't close also did. Now it's back to rain 🤫

Had a helper with the decorating! 6 hours, taking it in turns to have a break so work could keep going.

    All that's left to do:
    1. Base coat one skirting board.
    2. Top coat all skirting.
    3. Gloss door and door frame.
    4. Gloss units.
    5. Paint one and a quarter walls.
    6. Paint ⁴/⁵ of the ceiling (TomBo).
    7. Fit draft excluder to bottom gaps in skirting.

Line of sight when on the sofa is the door and units and so I'm having a glossing day tomorrow while TomBo is at work.

We are both very tired, but the room definitely looks fresher now 🤗

    Having pizza for tea 😁
