I love to read your plans, and organising, it feels like you will soon be ploughing through your DIY, hopefully at a steady pace.
I think its great you know where you are for Christmas, even though it will be a quiet one, after all that's been happening you both deserve a break!"...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains however improbable, must be the truth..."

Thank you Ren.
My head is swimming with ideas and there will be plenty of 'firsts' and a lot of learning along the way, thank goodness I've got my old DIY manual and YT exists!
I think doing the tasks I am is allowing me to see what I can do or how I adapt things to do it, how it affects me, how much I can get through in a block before taking a rest and doing another block and how much I can do in a session.
Christmas will be roast lamb and home grown veg, watching films and relaxing 😃
On a side note, it's 4 years tomorrow I started my new life and what a good one it's turned out to be 🤗Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.5 -
Door frame and one side of the door has 2 coats of special paint, the otherside of the door has 1 coat. Plan is to get 3 coats on it before glossing.
I've run out of time to do anything else due to needing to air the flat to remove the paint smell before TomBo is home.
- it is a little cold up here tonight 😬
This is going to sound odd, but I'm kind of emotional seeing the lounge start to come together!Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -

Hey Babs
It must be emotional - seeing what you have worked so hard towards for years, finally coming into fruition, and seeing the results of your labours.
You have physical evidence in front of your eyes, of how far you have come (and congratulations on that too!) and what you have achieved. A home of your own. No debts - only mortgage (good debt!). Space. Peace. Some security and peace of mind. A great area, and, hopefully good neighbours. Not to mention jolly old Tombo helping you towards your dreams, and, your lovely cat for company along the way. Fan-bluddy-tastic! I nearly forgot - a garden too!
Make the most of it & enjoy, I am betting that being in your own place, being able to make your own choices about it, at your own pace, and away from the last place which caused you stress, is going to make a huge difference. Who knows? Maybe your body will benefit to from your sanctuary?

Thank you Ren.
I don't take anything for granted and know it was hard work and determination to save (never forgetting the lucky PPi payout which helped clear debts and get the other half of the deposit together), hours looking on RM across a vast part of Scotland while whittling down counties, areas and then styles of properties.
The neighbours are a big improvement on the last place and we've made friends with most of them; one gives us his compostables and TomBo has helped them all with their gardens.
It's been a big adventure of discovery, learning and finding me.
The occasion has been marked with a few bunches of flowers and a small Christmas tree, I took advantage and put the advent calendar up too 🤗Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.5 -
Fantastic! Christmas has arrived in Scotland!
& lovely to have some beautiful flowers too. You will be growing your own ones next year.....

That tree has made a difference. I had made up my mind to get a full sized one to do the full traditional Christmas of presents round the tree, now I'm thinking smaller presents for this one 😁
Caulked up one skirting and did a bit more on the other. My hand couldn't face getting another caulk tube out to do try and finish it all off; those trigger things are hard going.
-- determined to do a bit of the lounge every day, with the bulk on the weekends.
I've a day off this week and TomBo is taking me to the antique shop 🤗
As tomorrow is the 1st of the month, I can start moving money to savings.
