  • Thank you Skinty, something has 'clicked' and I do feel I've got the inner peace I've been wanting for years.

I also don't feel so closed in now most of the woodwork has been changed.

Most mornings I'm doing photography. I must get round to setting my PC up, then I can use my proper equipment. I think that's one task for my holidays as all I've got left to do is connect the monitor.

The Christmas / New Year indulgence will be paid for with the supermarket points (£80), can't get much more MS than that; this is why I say save the points each year and not spend them each quarter or when they get to £5 / £10 😉
-- admittedly, some were carried forward from last year as we didn't spend them 🤭

All bills have been paid, aside from my token bank account fee (£2), money moved to savings and I've got £200 to last until payday, £75 is earmarked for my side of the family and TomBo.
    - December pay is very early 😬 £75 will be used to buy presents for my "in-laws" and TomBo.

I didn't do any DIY today. TomBo got his shift ending time wrong, so I wouldn't have had time to paint and air the flat before he returned.

Tomorrow is antique shop and double DIY day. I'm going to do some on the lounge, go out and then do some more when I get back.

Had a look over my O/Ps today. The first two I made were just to round up, then I started doing the proper O/P. I've set a goal to pay the 'missing' £152.50 by the time my annual statement comes through. Paid £12.50 off it today.
I'm also making full the normal O/P at the start of each month; normally I would pay half at the start and the other half at the end. It may save me a little more interest each month.

Covering two roles still for a while and got one more day off before I break up. Being selfish, I'm beginning to be a little concerned about how I will take my carried forward holiday within the timeframe allowed but will deal with that in the new year.

Went to the beach and another secluded location, loads of memories, some photos and felt relaxed.

Think I've done triple DIY today!
The third unit has been sanded and got base coat on on the doors, two base coats on the top / sides of it.
That just leaves a bit of skirting to do, then the mahogany has gone 🤗
-- definitely on schedule for getting it done before I break up for the holidays 😊

We did go to the antique shop, TomBo picked up my birthday and Christmas presents; just don't know which I will be handed for each occasion but both I liked for the flat.
I very nearly ended up with a lamp, but it was the style of not the original, therefore overpriced for what it was.
It was a good shop and I'm going to keep a close eye on it 🤭

Having chicken, tomato and veg casserole tonight.

  • Thank you LW2G, it was definitely productive, I worked fast and accurate today and would have loved to stay out longer but TomBo got hungry.

I'm hoping to get more base coats on tomorrow and Friday, then I can start glossing the weekend and paint two walls.

As I didn't buy anything today I moved some money to savings, paid a bit more off the CC and paid a little more of the backdated O/P.

Thank you SH, I'm beginning to enjoy my role, but know when things revert back I won't.

There's been some snow overnight, looking out the window there's snowcapped mountains 🤗

  • Wow snowcapped mountains. How beautiful.

You sound so settled and happy. (With a few work issues I know...)

I read your post in November 2019 and you said 'this time next year I will be in my own home' and you are!

I've worked out I will probably be going for a maisonette whether or not I get the current one. This is because the cottages feel too cramped and lacking in light but the big townhouses are out of my budget and just too much house just for me! Anyway, it's good therefore to see you don't seem to have any issues in yours.

    Thank you DIA.
They are only hills, but to me a hill is a lot lower than these and it looks like a mountain range from the flat.

Maisonettes are great, they have the feel and size of a house due to interior stairs. If that's what's in your budget, definitely give it serious consideration subject to the layout working for you.

When I set my mind on something, it has my full focus and I work out plans to get it 🤭

Managed to get another layer of base coat on the door frame and third unit lunchtime!
