Having my second big spud tomorrow for lunch, that will be another get it started before work to make sure it's done for lunch 😁
We went to a forest yesterday, very foggy and I got the photos I've wanted to do for a while.
I've heard from the utility company. They now admit to being the supplier of the electric, say they are not the gas supplier and want me to do some tests to see which meter is mine; clearly didn't pick up on when I said both gas and electric meters are in my kitchen.
I'm going to have to try and book some time off to do the woodwork painting. I've not got the energy weekends, barely got the energy to breathe after work.
Foggy and wet today, no plans to do much aside from get listing the things SIL gave me to sell and finish some crosswords off.

TomBo suggested I have the smaller homegrown spuds for lunch, can't believe they took 2 hours compared to my huge one.
Listed the stuff for SIL, no bites yet.
I've done one skirting board today. Sanded it and put three base coats on. Looks so much better.
Five more sections to do, plus the two units, door frame and door (that will be fun as it's got 15 glass panels in it). Only the bits we are keeping are having the proper top coat on.
I'm contemplating doing the inside of the front door as I'm not sure when I will be getting that replaced. Ideally it would be next year, but part of me thinks save for another year then do it.
Then all the mahogany will be gone 😁
My gas meter lead to my cooker. I've done an informal burn test with the hot water, the boiler is definitely connected to it.
If no one claims the gas supply for it (it does point towards me being without a supplier), then I'm going with the supplier who has got me this far.
Need to get the electric account set up and then I can transfer that out too.
Doing the formal burn test tomorrow and then messaging the other provider to say the electric is the other company, but not the gas and there's no trace of the meter.
Just want to pay what I owe for the electric, get the gas registered and start paying for that.
Fireworks are going off and my cat has hidden.
Having pork chops and veg later.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -

Cannot believe the utility company and it's inability to register you! A right mare's nest. Just shows the 'good old days' when they had the meter man out more regularly actually worked. Makes you wonder if the rest of the flats are sorted properly.
Do love a jacket spud. A break to sort out your place sounds like a good idea - at least you get to pace yourself properly, do a bit when you can, and your home will be brighter without the 'mahogany effect'. I wouldn't be surprised if we were all getting free gas 😂
Couldn't believe TomBo. I asked what he thought of the skirting and he said it's white and matches the wall 😶 Then asked why I did it when we are taking it off 😬 and proceeded to ask if we need to plaster the bottom of the walls when the paper / skirting is off 🤨 not sure if he quite realises we need (a lot of) money to do things.
Needless to say he is alive, I'm finishing the rest of the woodwork off and going to ask what his vision is for the lounge, not just one wall 😉

Sounds like you're making steady progress.5 -
I needed that giggle, thanks atrixa!
TomBo is going to do the plastering and patching of any walls, when the paper gets removed. It's a good thing he wants to learn this different DIY tasks, but I'm concerned based on his painting skills 🙈
I have tried to tell him to start small, get the hang of homeownership, then work upwards 😬 he doesn't realise how many years I've been learning things to get me to the stage I'm at 😂

Chuckling at Tombo too! There are definitely some people that don't notice things like, er, well, walls! I think he may need a little supervising.... lol....
Hope you have managed to tame the utility company into sorting your account out. Not holding my breath on that though!"...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains however improbable, must be the truth..."
