Energy: Find the cheapest supplier & earn cashback
Comments
-
Hi alipali9 - I am in exactly the same situation as you, and was wondering the same thing. Did you switch to a different product but stay with npower through the cheap energy club, and did you get the cashback?
Thanks.
Hi Scr00ge,
If you’re able to switch through our site (i.e. on the results page you see the button which says ‘switch and get cashback’) you would receive this even if it is just a tariff change with your existing supplier.
Not all suppliers let us do this with all tariffs, so do make sure that your account details are up-to-date before going ahead with your switch.

Haven't received my first bill yet, I do however have a welcome letter which has a letter reference but doesnt state tariff. I was told I had to apply online on the day for the collective deal so I did, I applied online after speaking to British Gas then I rang them up again to confirm everything went through ok. The letter also states they will reassess my payments at the end of the year which is a long wait to see if I am overpaying. I moved in 30 November, this letter is dated 25 December! So theoretically they've had enough days of me living there to go on, but is that actually the case.0

I've just had my email through from BG with all of my confirmation details.
My new monthly payment is more than double the estimated monthly cost that was calculated during the switching process. Has anyone else found similar?0 -

Hi Neilk - that doesn't sound right. Can you email us the details (including the BG confirmation) to collectiveswitch AT moneysavingexpert.com?
We'll take a look for you.0 -
Just got my british gas confirmation through. It is £20 a month dearer than quoted. Thinking of cancelling as I will be paying more not less!0

Is it possible that British Gas is doing this to get more cash in before the deal with Shell is finally completed?
Does anyone have enough stock market experience to see if this is something that might affect the takeover in any way??
I hope that the two above are just glitches as I started the MSE/BG switch yesterday, and don't want to have increased payments, even though I'll get it back (eventually).0 -

My quote is £20 a month higher then what i'm currently paying despite the Gas and Electric rates being much cheaper. This is almost £35 more then my current payment each month.0 -
Hi there
Thanks for flagging this issue. We've raised it with British Gas to understand the problem.
British Gas have told us that this section of the letter is actually just an illustration of how its direct debits work rather than what your direct debit costs will be.
If you look earlier in the email, it does have your correct personal projection for Gas and Electric (as per your CEC results page). Your direct debit should normally be the gas + electric projection divided by 12.
We've asked that British Gas urgently look at this email to understand how it can make it clearer that this is just an example figure and not your actual monthly payment. I understand how this could be confusing.
I hope this helps to provide some reassurance.

Hi Destiny33, it sounds like you may be looking at an illustrative example of how we calculate and review DD payments. We'll base your actual monthly payments on your personal projection and you'll get confirmation of them as soon as your accounts up & running.
