Energy: Find the cheapest supplier & earn cashback

Thanks to Cheap Energy Club, my switch is just about over. I switched to British Gas this time from EON. The customer service by EON was good, but loyalty doesn't pay anything these days. I would have been £120 worse off if I had stayed. That is without even taking the cheaper rates with British Gas collective switch. Also I will be receiving £30 from CEC. What not to like with switching!
The switch from Npower to EON was no trouble but it took about 4 weeks for everything to fall into place. From EON to BGas I wasn't on the phone to anyone at anytime and all is sorted. Well done to BGas.SPC 08 - #452 - £415
SPC 09 - #452 - £2980 -
My Eon Fixed 1 year v14 comes to an end in Jan-16, and the best new quote from Eon is for Fixed 1 yr v16 which is +£182 (+20%).
I have been with Eon since 1988 (17 years) when they were called Powergen and have never felt the need to change since I've never had any trouble with them. The only poor aspect has been value for money at times but the comparison difference which I do each year since I use 1 year fixed contracts, but it has never been that large.
I could switch to Ovo Energy (Which? score of 80%) and have no increase + £30 cashback, so making a total saving of about £210.

. . . What do you recommend?
For what it's worth the cheapest tariff from E.on comes about half-way down my list of options (in price order) so they are probably not very competitive in any region at the moment.
Edit
If I was looking right now, I might give Green Star a try.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Hi JontyW
Totally understand how these renewals can come as a shock. The tariff you're on at the moment (Fixed 1 Year - version 14) was a limited offer available at a similar time last year. Prices were discounted and held below standard prices for a year. As these tariffs start to come to an end, we're contacting customers to let them know and tell them about the alternatives we currently have available. This includes the Fixed 1 Year version 16 you mention. This is also lower than standard prices but not by as much as version 14.
You're doing the right thing in using an independent comparison site to see the other options available. For an accurate result, pop in your usage in kWh. If you've registered with our website, you can see your annual energy usage by logging in and choosing 'MiData' from the left hand menu. On the next page, select 'View' for instant details. Alternatively, this is available in the Annual Summary we send. There's also information about usage on your bills.
Have you registered with our online tool, Price Alerts? This is a service for customers, like yourself, on fixed price tariffs. If you have, we'll be in touch to let you know about any future versions of your fixed price tariff.
I'm pleased you've not had trouble with your account in the past, particularly after such a long association, but sorry we've nothing available at this time similar to the tariff that ends next month.

Hi all,
Got email today from MSE Cheap Enery Club to confirm that my gas/electric switch to British Gas (it was the cheapest on the market last December) has been completed and I will receive cash back. Trouble is I can't remember the cash back amount so can anyone confirm.
Thanks0 -
Where do they come from....:rotfl:

Please, please can anyone advise what the difference is between Scottish Power's Comfort Plus and Economy 7? I'm all electric in a non-gas supply area, and have got night storage heaters. I changed from a pre-payment meter to a credit meter when I moved into the property, requesting Economy 7 as my tariff but Scottish Power installed Comfort Plus meters. I have now made 3 separate phone calls to Scottish Power and spoken to maybe 7 or 8 customer advisers, NONE of which can explain what the difference is and whether I will be any better off with Comfort Plus or Economy 7. I know that I can't change my tariff from Scottish Power if I have Comfort Plus but is there any benefits whatsoever in having this tarriff. Help please!0

The details of SP's various E7 and Comfort Plus tariffs are detailed here.

My dual fuel tariff ends on 31/3/16.
I will switch but am concerned about the timing. The cheapest good tariff is likely to be the "Big Switch 4" winner. Anyone got any idea how long this might be available ?
If I understand the rules of switching correctly the earliest date I can switch without exit fees is 12/2/16 but can apply to switch before that date. Since the cooling down period is 14 days that should mean I can apply at the beginning of February without risking exit fees. Is my understanding correct ?
Please accept my apologies if the convention of this forum is not right as this is my first posting.0
