. . . We'll base your actual monthly payments on your personal projection and you'll get confirmation of them as soon as your accounts up & running. Cheers, Matt

I've just had my email through from BG with all of my confirmation details.

My new monthly payment is more than double the estimated monthly cost that was calculated during the switching process. Has anyone else found similar?

Hi neilk, I suspect you may be looking at an example of how we calculate & review payments as we'd only confirm your monthly payments once your account's set up. Please don't worry as we'd base your monthly payments on your personal projection, which you'll find just about the tariff terms & conditions. Cheers, Matt

Moved 30 November (first time buyer) and sorted out to be on the british gas collective on the last day the offer was available over the phone to british gas. They assured me I had it. I thought it was £55 combined for both, having trouble seeing the details now, however looking at my bill I am paying £68.11 per month for both. No sign off any cashback on the account the payments are coming out off.

So am I right in remembering the deal to be £55pm for gas/electricity combined please?

Hi cluelessoncanvey, that's a bit strange as our collective deal was only available via MSE. If you'd like me to look into this for you, please just email your details to talktous@britishgas.co.uk, including your MSE username & MSE Forums in the subject heading. Thanks, Matt

Hi Consumerist, not at all. We'll base customers payments on their personal projection, which can be seen on the confirmation email, it's just above the terms & conditions for the tariff. So to use a simple example; a projection for electricity of £499.54, 5189 kWh's, would mean monthly payments of around £42. However it can vary a little depending on the date you've chosen to pay. If you've chosen to pay on the 15th of each month but switch to us on the 10th, we won't have enough time to inform your bank & collect a payment in the first month. This can effect the number of payments we'll collect over the year and have a knock on effect to your payment amount. So we'll confirm your exact monthly payments once your DD's set up. Thanks, Matt

Is the British Gas Collective Fix February 2017 dual fuel discount quoted at £15.00 per service i.e £30 or £15 for the pair?

    Based on Electric 4419 (£0.10269 +£0.1642 sc) and Gas 9548 Gas (£0.02752 +£0.21903 sc) in the M43 postcode, a cashback of £30 and a penalty of £60 I calculate a pa saving of £50.65 against eon v19

  • Thanks for that

Is it possible that British Gas is doing this to get more cash in before the deal with Shell is finally completed?
Does anyone have enough stock market experience to see if this is something that might affect the takeover in any way??

I hope that the two above are just glitches as I started the MSE/BG switch yesterday, and don't want to have increased payments, even though I'll get it back (eventually).

Hi maxmiler, I think you're referring to the BG Group plc, which is a separate from British Gas and our parent company, Centrica. Just so you know, I believe the earlier posts were referring to an illustrative example of how we calculate and review DD payments & your actual payments will be based on your personal projection, which you'll find just about the tariff terms & conditions. Cheers, Matt

  • I have used your cheap energy club twice now for our own home, the second time I have just applied for. We are lucky enough to have a holiday home and I would like to change the supplier there too (to the latest BG offer to Feb 17) but when I try to do so after logging in, I can't change the address of the supply. Computer says no!
Is there a phone number I can ring to do it or please suggest how else I could achieve this.
