  • Hi Destiny33, it sounds like you may be looking at an illustrative example of how we calculate and review DD payments. We'll base your actual monthly payments on your personal projection and you'll get confirmation of them as soon as your accounts up & running. Cheers, Matt

It looks like I've read the e-mail incorrectly as well then Its very badly worded and ambiguous I've already sent of a cancellation e-mail how do I stop the cancellation going ahead as this tarrif was ideal for me till it looked like i'd be paying £40 a month more

Hi fallen angel 69, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I hope you've manage to stop the cancellation of the switch but if you need a hand, I'm here to help. Please just pop your details on an email to talktous@britishgas.co.uk, including your MSE username & MSE Forums in the subject heading. Cheers, Matt
I am the official company representative of British Gas. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

I am currently with OVO with one of their smart meters (which does not work online so I can not actually view my usage)

If I swap over to British Gas does anybody know how long it would take for them to swap the meters over to their smart meter?

Hi LMartin, sorry for the delay. I hope you decided to switch and if you have, we'll change your meter as soon as you join us. Regrettably I couldn't guarantee you'd get a smart meter straight away and you could have a standard meter installed. If you've any questions, just pop your details on an email to talktous@britishgas.co.uk, including your MSE username & MSE Forums in the subject heading. Cheers, Matt

I decided to get away from Scottish Power as they were charging stupid amounts of money for a two bed well insulated bungalow, higher when we had a 3 bed semi.

So as I took the advice from this site and went over to GB Energy Supply, what a farce, they swapped my electricity and not the gas and came up with a feeble excuse that they were waiting for SP to tell them what type of gas meter I have...er! domestic!!!!

Two emails sent to GBES and so far they have failed to respond so as from tomorrow I will cancel the DD, I'm paying twice for my gas here and it is not acceptable.

I am now going to swap to another supplier because this lot at GB are obviously not up to the job. Not impressed with them at all.

I think I've reported this as spam but the image verification is virtually incomprehensible. Don't think I'll bother again.

How are you accessing this forum, Consumerist?

I'm using a pc/laptop on the old forum design (the one that works!) and there is no image verification needed for those logged into the forum to report a post.

No image verification to press the spam button either.

Edit: My guess is that you were attempting to report a post whilst not logged in .
Whilst this means you would be forced to use the new all singing, all dancing (if only it all worked) forum skin, it's only when you have not logged in that you are required to use image verification.
i.e. even with the latest forum skin, if you are logged in there is no image verification (at least using a pc/laptop)

I'm using 64-bit Win8.1 on a laptop too and using the new skin but I was probably not logged in at the time so that may account for the image verification requirement.

I didn't see the point of logging in to report spam but I now see the error of my ways. I have duly slapped myself on the wrist and promise to try to remember not to do it again. :)

    Edit
It has just occurred to me that I pressed the Report button instead of the Spam button. Senility or something?

I did, that's why I asked! I saw no image verification.
