I have been on N Power's Go Fix 5 tariff for the last year. I have just received a letter from them to say this will end on 31 May 2012 and if I move to their Go Save Gas and Electricity their quote shows that my gas charges will increase by 6.8% and electricity increase is 53.8%!!! I thought the big energy supplies were pegging the increases to a max of around 16%. Obviously I will need to switch elsewhere asap but would welcome any information on the 53.8% increase in the electricity price.
  • Hi all, can any avid energy watchers point me in the right direction please.

Currently on E.on Save Online v6 ending 31st may

Looking around this seems to be the best?

NPower Bill Saver May 2013 through energyhelpline ?

Currently spending around £400 p/q on elec and 130 p/q on gas.

    Many thanks
  • Hi All - In similar position am a dual fuel customer with NPower coming to the end of Go Fix 5 tariff which ends 31st May. I've used the comparision sites and am dismayed to find all of the deals out there now are MORE EXPENSIVE by at least £104 per year. I'm drawn towards Scot Power Fixed price until 2014 as it will allow us to budget properly. This as my guess is energy prices are only going in one direction long term whether ConDem rant and rave about forcing the big six to offer us their best deal. The only fly in the ointment is the rumours around the Which? Big Switch and Energyline Huge Switch collective buying - So which is best the certainty of a fixed price until 2014 or collective buying (negotiating)? AND whilst I'm on the subject of comparison sites for energy - does anyone really understand the calculation from meter units to kWh? To me I want a straight price per unit then I know there's no smoke and mirrors when the bill comes in. All those who agree say Yes!!

I changed my supplier last week to npower. I should save £130 and I also got £100 cash back through quidco.

Hi all, sorry if this sounds like a completely stupid question, but here it goes...

My partner and I recently moved into our first home together and I have no idea as to whether or not we are with the cheapest provider or not.

We are currently duel fuel customers and pay month by DD. When I go to comparison sites it asks how much we pay per month for each gas and electricity. This makes sense but only having one payment go out each month I don't know what the divide is. Is there anyway of working this out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

    Hi,
I am getting my first flat and trying to sort out a budget. Could anyone give me a realistic idea as to how much I should budget per month on utilities for a one bedroom flat?
There will be both me and my partner.
    Thanks!
  • Hi, all.

This is very confusing for someone new to Forums! How do I post a question> I can see how to reply (hence writing this here!(, but no button for 'New Post'. Sorry if I seem very dim!

    Many thanks,

Scottish Power phoned me again today, asking who I was with etc etc. The chap went on to say how much I could save if I switched, then I asked the question, how much is the fee for an independent gas transporter, he said pardon, I repeated, he said he had never been asked that question and put me on hold so he could speak to his supervisor, the supervisor didn't know the answer, so I said call back when you do know.

Why isn't the independent gas transporter ever mentioned during the sales call, they are misleading many customers who do not think to ask them this question.

British Gas are the only ones who I know of who don't charge an independent gas transporter fee, unless anyone knows otherwise?:money:
