Got stopped by these when shopping in Garden Centre, and they say they guarantee the cheapest rates for ALL utility services (inc phone/broadband/gas/electricity).
Have never heard of them, and am bit wary as, surely, if they are the cheapest, why are they not a household name, and havent seen them mentioned by Martin before.
Is there anyone who has used them or are still using them, and are they as good as their word?0 -
Never heard of them till now but a quick Google-around reveals many dissatisfied people.
This for example ....

I guess the motto is ....beware.0 -

Utilties Warehouse are well known cowboys in these parts who employ various unethical tactics to acquire customers whilst not always having the lowest prices as they claim.
In particular they pay their existing customers commission for introducing new customers to them and this causes the sadder members of their customer base to tell all kinds of lies to their friends to get a few quid off their own utilities bill. Also they might have say a low price per unit for electricity but also have an unusually high standing charge or they might have the lowest price for a UK landline call but then have diabolical rates for calling mobile phones on the same call package etc, etc.
The bottom line is that Utilities Warehhouse are rarely as cheap as they claim and that the people who make these claims are only doing so in the hope you will join up and so gain them a commission rebate on their own utilities bills.
See http://mycheaperutilitybills.co.uk/cheapest-electricity/utilitywarehousescams/ for a flavour of the controversy generally associated with the marketing methods of this utililities company.0 -
I have received my annual statement from EDF today which handily shows how many kwh for gas and electricity I used in the last 12 months and a projection for the next 12. Having plugged the info into the simplyswitch website it's suggesting I would be £250 worse off to switch....is this normal?0

Currently trying to switch, having moved into a new house and having been put on a Standard (daylight robbery) tariff by Scottish Power. I'm struggling to compare, however, as the Standing Charge I've been billed for is 30.69p/day for gas; the comparison website tells me that my daily standard charge is 0.32/day. Can i really trust it if it gets this wrong to such an extent.
I have to say, after spending some hours on this: why doesn't the government make it obligatory for them to lay their charges out clearly? The government is meant to represent our best interests to these companies, and this is clearly in our interest.
I have signed up for the 38Degrees mass appeal, but really, this is the job of the government. It has nothing to do with the market place, it is a clear requirement for trust in the market, that we are presented with clear pricing. Historically, creating trust in a marketplace is necessary for its growth. Why are we paying these fools - Labour, Lib Dem and Tory - to occupy positions that they are not using for our benefit?Titch0 -
Be wary of the annual figures that EDF supply.
I record my readings monthly and submit them to EDF
My latest bill showed annual consumption gas 9990 elec 1604
The EDF notes say "The consumption figure displayed is an estimate ...."
My records show gas 7490 elec 1802.

Just improved the deal my current supplier offers . I used the comparison site as a guide , it said it was for new customers only. I phoned my current supplier and was transferred to the new one with immediate effect which saves me money for the next couple of months too. It's worth contacting your current supplier before changing to another - they don't really want to lose customers after all!0

I just did the same as above after getting a phone call from N Power he claimed I could pay £74 instead of the £94 per month I am currently paying with Scottish Power, I checked online and even SP had a cheaper rate so I called them and now I am paying only £70 pm - result!Growing old is manditory, Growing up is optional! :j0

Hi, current deal @ Scottish Power ends 30/4 with cancellation charge for early exit. Want to switch to Blue +price asap after 30/4 but I know it takes a few weeks - when is best time to request switch so as not to incur exit charge & not to go too long after 30/4 with Scottish Power. Is there any kind of industry rule re this??0

The switch takes 4-6 weeks but that just the time to do it. The important part for you is the registration date, the 4-6 weeks is from there but the registration date is the cancellation of the old supplier and agreement with the new one. Consider that with your contract end date.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
