Energy: Find the cheapest supplier & earn cashback

I've found the cheapest package for me via Moneysupermarket, who offer £30 for switching. But Quidco have £50 cashback on this particular tariff - is there any way I can claim both? As far as I can tell they both work by clicking a referrer link, which means I could only claim one, but thought it was worth checking if anyone had a cunning means to claim through more than one route before I sign up."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100

Do not be confused by the wording.
It is true you won't find it cheaper anywhere else.
But you won't find it any more expensive anywhere else either!
Jolly clever - thanks, I missed that trick!
Quidco it is, then.
I still don't understand how different comparison sites can magic different quotes from the same tariff, based on the same set of figures.....0 -

I am with Eon on their Fixonline6 tariff which ends on April 1st.
I want another long term fix so I was looking at the EDF fix to June 2015. However, I understand that EDF prices are going up in March.
Two questions.
Firstly if I apply to swith to EDF before March 1st would my tariff be set as the June 2015 fix, bearing in mind the overall transfer is not likely to go thru for some weeks, by which time EDF's price will have gone up.
Secondly, if the transfer goes thru before my Fixonline6 ends on April 1st will I have to pay Eon a cancellation fee, even though it may only be days?.
ThanksWaddle you do eh?0 -
I was a customer of Scottish Hydro and was paying a fixed £77 per month for my electricity. After reading Martin's pages about switching, I moved to Eon, got £15 for the cashback, expect to save £200 in the next year and then discovered that I'd built up a £220 credit with Scottish Hydro, as I'd obviously been paying more than I'd been using. Am I glad I switched??!!
Thanks Martin!0 -
I've been through the comparison sites and the best deal is Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 12 Dual Fuel, quoting me £1044.94. Currently paying £1396.66 a year with E.On Energy Plan. Plus if i go through topcashback then I get £62.
Before I go through with this, has anyone had any bad service with Scottish Power and anything I need to be aware of in the switching process?0 -

Can't comment on the tariff (although it came out well for me, too) but Scottish Power has a good reputation for customer service. I can vouch for that, too.
Others on here are better placed to advise you of any switching problems, but the obvious one is to make sure your existing contract (if any) is complete. Also to use a separate browser (Opera, perhaps, set to clear cookies on exit) for TCB, just to make sure there are no cookies lurking which might prevent the cashback from tracking.0 -

Not sure about your second question, think you're best explaining the situation to EDF and getting them to make sure its not before 1st April, if that's possible...0 -

Hi dave
Just thought I would confirm, if the supply switches before the Fixonline 6 tariff expires on 1 April 2011, there will be a cancellation fee. This is £30 for Dual Fuel and £10 for electricity only.
Be careful, too, of our policy of not giving discount on final bills when changing supplier.
It might be beneficial to time a move so it completes after the contract end date.
In this way, you will not only avoid the cancellation fee but also, as you will have completed the Fixonline 6 contract, will receive all the discount applicable to this tariff even if part of this falls within the final bill. Could save you quite a bit.
Hope this helps dave. Give me a shout if you need any more info.

Just done a comparison on energyhelpline.com.
All the same factors bar the payment method.
1st Comparison
£25 per month
Prepay meter
2nd Comparison
£25 per month
Direct Debit.
The PREPAY with Ebico comes out £6 CHEAPER.
I may be mistaken but I thought prepay was supposed to be more expensive generally?
Don't think there's any standing charges or anything as when I top up, the amount I've put on the card is the amount that shows as my credit.
Is this right?
