I'm in process of checking dual fuel deals using Martin's guide - I've run through the comparison sites Uswitch and Energyline and Moneysupermarket all give Eon as the best deal. Uswitch and Energyline both give the exact same figure and same tariff - however Moneysuoermarket gives the same tariff yet £50 cheaper?

I've checked and the same figures were used in the three sites - any ideas why the difference?

They should be the same. My guess is that if two sites offer the same price, that is the correct one, as it's unlikley two independent sites would make the same identical error.

If you want us to have a look, you'll need to give us the details you input.

    i.e.
Your supply region (or first part of your post code)
    Current suppliers and tariffs
    Annual consumption figures in kWh.

So I have the Eon letter advising me of the price increases. I am currently on fixed onlineV3 dual fuel gas 16489 elec 5996 but due to go over automatically to Energyonline.
Using the comparison sites should I put the newer price plan so as to compare that ( I assumed so )
Also putting kWh figures will be more accurate.

Not done this in ages so how do I know if there is any cashback with any of the searches?
    Thanks

Yes, use the tariff you will be going onto as your current (because if you do nothing, that is the tariff you will be charged for the next 12 months)

You will always get the best result if you input your annual consumption in kWh

Cashback via the comparison sites is as it says on them/in their terms & conditions. - the the MSE comparison sites suggested by MSE offer cashback (or wine, amazon vouchers, etc)
If you want to know what cashback is available from cashback sites, you have to go to them and find out.

  • Just had a pointless phonecall from E.On. I'd followed the advice in the MSE article and used SimplySwitch, due to the Amazon voucher cashback offer. Decided that Atlantic was probably the one to go for, and Review Centre reported that most customers giving reviews considered it the best.

Had a phone call from E.On this evening saying they'd got my details from Simply Switch. So I said I was considering Atlantic but would be interested if they could give me a better deal. Things were going OK until he asked me for the current supplier. Innocently I said 'E.On', at which point he refused to proceed. I pointed out that I'd entered E.On as my supplier in Simply Switch and even that I stated that I was on their Energy Online tarrif. It seemed very stupid that he'd called me.

He suggested I should call their Customer services to discuss tariffs whilst I pointed out that it was his job! I've been a happy customer of E.On's until now!
  • Just used moneysupermarket to find my cheapest supplier. Edf came up top and Quidco were offering £50 cashback for swapping. Very pleased! :j

My Online Fixed Dual Energy 2011 with Scottish Power is due to end on Feb 28th. I was on a very good deal but obviously I have to go to a new tariff by the end of the month. My question is, should I wait till the end of the month to start a new deal or can I do it now, bearing in mind that it can take 2 months to switch? Will I be charged a penalty by Scottish Power if it all goes through seamlessly and is switched in 2 days, for example? Questions, questions, arrrrgh.

Switching supplier takes a minimum of 4 weeks.
So if you apply to switch today, it won't actaully happen until next month ... so switch away :)

(Make sure whatever SP will transfer you to for the few days/weeks until the switch happens does not have any early exit fees)

How do I find out if there are any early exit fees for Eon Energyonline?
I was V3 until Dec but that ran out so they put me over to online automatically ( thought it was today but clearly I missed that notice )
I assume I am now 1 month into a new contract & there will be penalties but not sure how to find out what they are.

There doesn't seem to be penalties looking at the terms and conditions

Just as I thought but I always like to check on here as I know others are more on the ball than I am with this stuff.

    Much appreciated.
    Thanks
