If I had known this, I would have used one of the other comparison websites, but hey..hopefully someone else won't make my same mistake.

If you are switching to a supplier who pays more than the £30 cashback offered by this site for dual fuel through https://www.topcashback.co.uk or https://www.quidco.co.uk you would in any case be far better off switching through them as they allow payment of cashback more than once even if you switch back to the same supplier as you were once with a year or two later.
  • I'm looking to switch to ScottishPower - Platinum Fixed Energy however I can't purchase it through moneysupermarket or energyhelpline.
Does anyone know of any other sites I can use to get cashback on this tarriff?

Please note I'm a current SP customer so am not eligible for some of the cashback offers.

    Thanks!

I don't know of anywhere that will give you cashback for changing tariff with an existing supplier - you are not "switching to Scottish Power" if you are a current customer.

I'm looking to switch from EON Fix online 3 to EDF online saver (£80 thru quidco + £100 welcome. I've read EDF T & C and to get welcome bonus I need to switch before 30th Nov 2010.

Is that midnight 30 Nov or midnight 29th Nov?

Also there may be cancellation charge of EON fix online if I switch before 1st Dec. Energy helpline try to avoid this by promising to process the switch on 1st Dec, but wouldn't this affect the 30th Nov bonus?

When is the best day to switch to avoid EON cancellation charge and benefit from Welcome bonus?

Processing the switch on 1st December would lose the EDF bonus. You should switch by midnight on 29th November, to be sure to meet the condition "before 30 November".

EON will not charge you any cancellation charges because EDF need time to process your application and it will take a few weeks before EON are notified of your intention to switch suppliers.
  • Sorry to say that the MSE summary of latest price news includes 2 errors re EdF:
    a) the pledge not to increase prices is until March 2011 (not 2010);
    b) the October announcement did not cut prices but raised them (as the rest of the piece implies).

I have also discovered an error in the Switch with Which? tool: it fails to recognise the annual rebate of 8.33% for monthly direct debit payers on Atlantic's Domestic Standard Online (Atlantic Internet) Gas tariffs - at least in respect of current users of the tariff. Clearly this badly distorts price comparisons and could lead to an ill-advised switch. I've emailed them about this.

Can anybody please help/clarify for me how a true indication of which is the cheapest supplier can be found? When you put in figures of what you pay each moth this cannot be a true indication of what power is used........purely an estimate based on what you have paid each month?
Incidently I am with British Gas for both gas and Electric, I suppose I should be moving rather quick?
Thank you in advance of any advice.
  • We can't switch to EDF until we legally complete on our new home on Thursday 9th, knowing our luck the plug will get pulled on the £100 bribe just before then.

The incumbent supplier is British Gas so hopefully we'll be able to reject their price rise as we complete the day before their hike takes effect, and the old prices should apply for 1 day!

Fantastic news - cheers! Hope you're right HalloweenJack.

Indeed you're right, according to EDF's website: http://www2.savetodaysavetomorrow.com/Online_Saver_v7.html (although I note its now dual fuel only)
