Hi
Just been on the EDF website and it doesn't seem to mention anything anywhere about the £100 new sign up incentive. Is it still going?
Thanks0 -

I am currently with british gas on a credit meter for gas.
Due to their announced price hikes, i just know i wont be able to afford it this winter. I need to change supplier NOW!
I read on the home page about 'ebico'; where every customers pays the same rate whether its pay as you go energy, direct debit or quarterly billing. GREAT, i thought, as i could do with a pre-payment meter to stop another bill dropping on the doormat.
I e-mailed ebico explained my situation and said that i couldnt find anywhere on their website about them fitting pre-payment meters. They replied but told me that I would be charged 52 pounds to have one fitted.
As i am with british gas at the moment , i could get one fitted for free, what i want to know is, if i get one, am i contracted/obliged to keep them as a supplier for a certain amount of time or can i swtich supplier more or less as soon as i've had it fitted?
You see, if i get them to do it, it saves me paying ebico 52 quid for one!
I have scoured the british gas website for an answer to this and cant find anything.
if anyone knows if i an do this please let me know
MANY THANKS
You won't be bound to stay with BG for any minimum period just because you ask them to install a PPM."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I wanted to change gas and electricty suppliers since the British Gas price hike but the comparisons I have done show that I would be locked into the supplier with at least a twelve month contract.I would have to buy myself out of the contract for £50 or £60 if the new supplier hiked their prices and I wanted to change again before the twelve months was up.
Is there any way round this or is switching a thing of the past?0 -

Not all suppliers/tariffs include an early exit fee ... although the more competitive ones for your individual situation may do."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I switched in August to Scottish Power and now they have announced an 8% increase.
If I want to switch again then presumably I will need to pay a penalty as I am locked in until August 2011. Are they obliged to allow me to switch without penalty as they have changed the prices?0 -
Apologies if this has been covered, there's just too many messages to read them all.
I've just tried to switch to First:Utility. Looks good, tarriffs are cheaper than eon, who I'm currently with, and you get £50.00 cashback on switching.
However, got so far through the registration process and got a message to say that they can't switch me because I'm with an IGS - Independent Gas Supplier. These IGS's own the pipes that supply the gas and additional charges would be incurred by the likes of First:Utility to supply the gas through them.
So I guess it's not always so easy to switch even though Uswitch showed First:Utility as the cheapest and offered the switch.
By the way, this was another case of the bigger discount being offered by switching directly with the supplier (first:utility) rather than Uswitch.0 -

You've probably had a lucky escape. First:Utility has managed to get itself a pretty dreadful reputation:

Hi,
Am currently on BG Standard dual fuel; figure it is about time I looked at saving a bit of cash. Checked on a couple of the switching websites and EDF and E.ON are turning up at the top.
E.ON is marginally cheaper overall, but EDF trumps it with the £100 account credit.
However, E.ON's guarateed to be cheaper than standard by 6%, whereas EDF is only 2%... Does this mean that they are likely to massively hike their prices for the online tariff in March? Also, E.ON haven't announced their price rises have they?
Finally, being with BG already and winter almost on us, would it be better to switch straight to their Websaver, even though slightly more expensive? (about £60/year more than cheapest but less than currently)
Has anyone had good/bad experiances with getting the £100 credit off EDF? It would only save me roughly £60 a year (according to U-Switch) compared to E.ON.0
