You sign-up to become a member of the cashback site, once you are signed up and logged in, then search for the merchant you wish to use - eg: EDF which will take you to a page like this:

Click the continue to merchant button:

Then sign-up at the supplier and yes the cashback should happen automatically. Usually best to clear your cookies first though and then follow the continue to merchant link.

Most other cashback sites work in a similar manner, although they may charge a £5 annual fee for membership (eg: Quidco) or keep a share of up to half the cashback (eg: Greasy Palm). Therefore I prefer topcashback at present as they give you 100% of the cashback and charge no annual fee.

For comparisons of suppliers use sites like X or X but obviously don't use their links to switch, clear your cookies after using the comparison site then use the suppliers link on a cashback site (topcashback, Quidco etc).

    Hi,

I have just gone via topcashback to sign up for EDF dual fuel.

How do I know when it has 'tracked'? Should it already have happened? My account says 'No Transactions yet'. Do I have to wait or do anything to kick it off??

I closed the browser without completing the first time as EDF said my electricty direct debit would be £375 per month!!

I cleared my cookies and started again. This time used monthly figures and it changed to £40 per month.
It's all done but not sure when I am supposed to see the tracking in top cash back?

    thanks

    C.

Give it 24 to 48 hours and then check this page while logged in:
    http://www.topcashback.co.uk/account/earnings/merchant

    It should be there.

If nothing after a week or so then submit an enquiry:

    Hello

I am currently on the E.ON Fixonline V3 dual tariff which ends 1/12/10 and am looking my best switch.

I can see E.on has the Saveonline4 which is also shown on quidco at £55. Would quidco pay out even though I am an existing customer? As far as I can see you just have to switch tariffs.

    Many thanks

No - you have to change supplier; ie move from E.on to another provider.

I prefer Quidco.co.uk - OK they charge £5 per year membership - but they are extremely professional and have never let me down with cashback - they also now offer "in store" cashback - in which you register your debit/credit card and then any purchase made in that store earns cashback
I have "recovered" over £250 in the last 12 months alone - not doing anything different to my normal spending - just saving on home / car insurance and breakdown cover

Topcashback don't make an annual charge, they pay slightly more than Quidco, and I've found them to be a lot more reliable than Quidco.

For example, after the recent problems with DGM, Topcashback paid their members in full. Quidco won't. Enough said.

the EDF no rises until March 2011 only applies to their standard tariff so in theory they could increase the price of their cheapest tariff (Online S@ver Version 7) by a percent or two before March.

Just an update that according to this post the price freeze guarantee may also apply to the Saver 7 tariff although EDF is not 100% clear on that:

Anyone changing or thinking of changing to EDF should check the following thread which will hopefully have a full clarification from EDF shortly as well as clarification on the £100 welcome bonus:

Yes I agree - I had problems with Quidco and changed to Topcashback and also think they are more reliable and better customer service. Not sure why anyone would pay £5 when they can get a better service (and fractionally higher cashback with the top ups) for free at topcashback:

Er...I thought that through Topcashback you get £100 welcome bonus on the dual fuel online saver 7 plus another £80.80 cashback. So it does beat that (if only by 80p!) plus there's no £5 annual charge of course.

    :)
