  • I think OP you are a plonker!

Behaving like a spoilt toddler having a tantrum in a supermarket! Stamp feet, wave arms and yells - wants attention and wants it now and when ignored, throws a wobbler  .

I am a newbie and you are giving us a bad name :o , also by reading all the posts on this thread you've managed to create a sense of 'them and us'.

Maybe if you had taken more time to familiarise yourself with the workings of this site, it would have helped. I'm still learning and having to ask 'newbie questions'.

I try to put back what I take out, have you? I have posted quite a few times, tried to help, made a few comments and had to 'bump' to get a reply, if it got missed, I didn't throw my toys out of the pram! I even posted about how to manage keeping up with the forum and got some very useful advice.

You probably think the world revolves around you/your problems and that everyone is sitting on their bum waiting to help you, well they ain't.

So as one newbie to another - don't be such a wally, if you don't like the way the site works, why don't you bog off and whinge elsewhere.

  • Question about diaries - i notice a lot of people are sayng things like not another debt diary etc when starting one, myself included.

When I first came on here, I read two diarys start to finish - Seaxyn and MOT - just caught my eye and i enjoyed reading them. I liked how they made so much progress in sortin stuff out! It does give you some inspiration of how to go from there yourself. Started a few others but didnt finish.

Got the impression of attention seeking in one - user always posting about how hard done they were, and seekin people to come along and praise them or get sympathy.

Point im making is some stuff is interesting to read, others not - to my own personal opinion. Im not sure how my diary will turn out, plan to jst update as I go along, but I know I want rid of my debt and savings built up.

So I guess my question is, everyone seems to be jumping on bandwagon with debt diaries but there is ahandful of really popular ones - some I like, some I dont, obviously ahve some good writers or just persistant posters! Do regulars feel that theres too many debt diaries to keep track of? I can see huge advantages to myself in having spport as I go along but dont want to come across as attention seeking by constantly asking for help as ive seen.

Maybe a seperate diary section is an idea, or even just putting most popular ones over there for regulars but keeping all other posts here?

Can see OP point of forum being confusing, could threads like how much will you spend....not be archived? As usually irrevant shortly after they have been posted? Could do same with challenges? Or even index them to be searchabe by date/week/month? Might make it easier to search for posts that are not limited to a shelf life?

To my knowledge (and I am a SAD MSE addict) there is not one diary that reflects your opion above.

Its about time threads of this nature were banned as they cause more bl00dy contention that anything else!!!

Perhaps we should have a sticky linking to all of the previous threads moaning about the diaries??

And for the record, I've never seen an anyone attention seeking as you describe either.

I'm not quite sure why you felt the need to say that - of course, you are entitled to your opinion, but it is quite hurtful and people are inevitably going to jump to conclusions (rightly or wrongly) about which diary you mean.

Good luck with your diary though, I hope it brings you the support you need and helps you on your way to being debt free.

  • Didnt mean to ruffle any feathers here - i was trying to make a point of there being different ways of viewing things, - for me i liked some diarys and could empathise with issues, others just made me think - attention seeking - perhaps strong statement but thats my opinon.

Its just like real life, you like some people and dont like others - im a straightforward person and tell it like it is - please dont take offence that Ive said I dont like a users posts - im surely entitled to?

Im trying to say that all of us want to be debt free - and diaries can be a good way of doing it, but at same time there must be hundreds of active diaries at moment, some get more attention that others, and kind of does lead to question - are they more deserving of support? or do they have a way of doing a diary to make people interested?

I really do like this forum, and would like to take part in it, offer help and support - im asking these questions as a new person, testing water, so please dont take any offence, im just trying to find out more!

    Thanks! :T

PS Forumman. I know where you're coming from hon. It's not that long ago that I was a lonely stressed out newbie - but this IS a social forum. We're a community of debt free wannabees not a question answering service.

Myself, I find subscribing to threads really helpful.

And a judicious bump once in a while doesn't hurt either.

You gotta laugh haven't you. The OP moans about something, we chat about it for four or five pages and the OP is nowhere to be seen!!!!

Talk about a thread having the opposite effect!

Anyway I love the daily chat thread cos it means I have somewhere to talk about the boring minutae of my day that is interesting to no one in particular but I love to hear about what other people have been/are up to. If I didn't subscribe to that why would I come back to MSE every day and subsequently answer a newbie!!!!!!!!

Life would be quite depressing if we all just posted when we had a problem. It would seem like there is no light at the end of a tunnel..

By the way - I trapped my finger in a door last night and its now blue, so typing is agony. I knew the acrylic nails would come in handy - it saved my finger from being chopped off!!:rotfl:
