Hi,
This forum is clogged up with regulars chatting about their daily diaries when desperate people like me are having their new threads washed away with a tidal wave of trivia ( I counted 9 out of 20 1st page slots taken up with this chit chat). Can we have a sub-section for MSE socialites? Is it me?

  • Yes it is you.

This forum is as much for regulars as it is for newbies.

It is a support network. Many people need it for their entire debt free journey, not just the start.

This forum is about giving aswell as receiving. You've been a member since August last year. You might be desperate and you seem to think you are entitled to help but what help have you given others that are desperate?

And who do you exepct to help you in your time of need? The more seasoned posters? Those same posters who you have created this thread to criticise for using the forum?
  • It's a forum, it's designed specifically for chit chat:p:D:rotfl:

I don't think thats fair sometimes I see that important topics are missed and to be very fair when a vote was taken the majority did want a sub forum.

Trouble is that this topic divides people those who have diaries insist they are important and those without really aren't bothered.

So no its not you it is the majority just the quiet majority! So please stick around!

I don't have a diary, but I do rely on the chat a bit to keep me on the straight and narrow....
  • Hi forumman,
I'm sorry you feel that way, and I admit, there are a lot of diaries on here... I have one too... I agree that there should be a forum thread as well as an advice / help thread, but the diaries are important too. It tracks one's personal progress, also raises questions and others use tham as inspiration and can find them very useful.
By taking the diaries away, I think there will be a lot less people on the board as a lot of us have diaries we follow and then if a question pops up in a new thread, it's there in front of us to help with.
Divide the diaries and questions / crys for help etc, and I think a majority would leave and go to the diaries thread...

But you aren't alone, Martin was thinking of doing this (having 2 boards) a while ago... don't know what the outcome is / was but nothing's happened yet....

Maybe start your own diary, and we can help you on there?
    :D
I hope you find all the help and fantastic support that you need here... you just gotta jump in and ask! :D

It isn't just about you getting an immediate response to your problem.

If you look back on the entries you will find a lot of information in previous threads that you can look at. If someone has debt reducing at the bottom of their post or are on a thread reducing debt then the information will help people. Most people on this thread have overcome or are overcoming difficulties and know the frightening situations that you can find yourself in when you don't know what to do. It's actually quite good to see the change in some posters who can now 'chat' and when you look back they were scared to answer the phone.

The forum is for everyone and someone will answer you. You can pick and choose what you read and I know I certainly look back to look at threads that have been missed, I'm sure others do too.
  • This forum is about support for those with debt, support comes in all shapes and sizes. While I agree it's sad that some posts get lost in the chat, most don't.
It's important for people to post their stories and mark milestones along the way. Without the stories, challenges, ideas and selfless support on these boards many people would be suffering alone and scared. Instead they are laughing and chatting openly.

Forumman - what thread specially are you referring to that we can help with? I am one of the 'offenders' ;) with a diary, but I do make sure that I try to answer other threads and respond to new posts as well. I am drawn to the board by the regular diaries and more 'chit-chat' posts as are quite a few people. I'm sorry if you haven't got the help you need - I'll do a search on your name and try to help in any way I can.
