Forumman - I have replied to the thread I guess you were referring to - seems you have had a few responses with some good advice so not really sure of the problem.

  • I've just looked to see if your question(s) had been missed and your thread was answered within 20 minutes late last night and then from early this morning with lots of useful advice and information. If you still have questions on the same subject please don't be afraid to ask more on the thread or start a new one on a new subject - I'm sure it will be answered just as quickly.

May DFW'ers start here scared and feeling alone. The warmth and friendliness (as well as speed of response) is all part of the DFW 'vibe' and with that comes chatter and support. Some forums are more clinical (ie talking about car repairs or technical stuff like computers) and they don't need to same constant stream of emotional support. In the 2 years I've been an MSE'er I've seen some DFW'ers really blossom through the network of friends on here from being in such a state they can't face the next day to being totally in control of their finances and making plans for the long term future within a few weeks.

Why not jump in and join a few socialising threads - you'll learn loads and become just as addicted as the rest of us - don't be shy - 23 posts in 14 months? We aren't that scary ;)

Martin did raise the issue on here a little while back, and the response, as far as I remember, was that the stickies at the top needed tidying up, which has been done. I also remember Immoral Angel doing an analysis in response to Martin's query, about what had happened to recent newbie posts, whether they'd got lost in the welter of diaries, and she found about 2 in the first 5 pages that had gone unanswered. Considering that all the people who give answers and support are in debt trouble themselves, I don't think thats too bad.

Southernscouser's point above is a good one - that the people on here who *give* help are likely to be the ones who have the diaries. They (we!) are still in debt, and need help and support too, which is why the diaries are appropriate on here. It can look very light hearted and funny, and you'll often see a sudden turn right down, when something really bad has happened.

Forumman, it seems from what sea says that your individual thread has got a fair amount of feedback now. What did you think of it? Do you see the feedback you got as helpful?

    Hi,
This forum is clogged up with regulars chatting about their daily diaries when desperate people like me are having their new threads washed away with a tidal wave of trivia ( I counted 9 out of 20 1st page slots taken up with this chit chat). Can we have a sub-section for MSE socialites? Is it me?

    Oh, hi Martin

Oh wait, you're not Martin....forgive me......

In that case I'll carry on as I was.

(apologies, I'm aware that this post is sarcastic and not very nice, but my blood is boiling......)

I wish they would split the board just to prove the point and stop this endless complaining.

  • I don't get these kind of posts, if nobody has posted to their particular thread then maybe they have no advice to give.

I've posted a diary, nobody has commented on it but am I throwing a strop, no!

I always read the new posts and if I have any advice to give then I reply, but I have to admit that I love to read the personal diaries, they are very inspirational and gives me a lot of motivation to repay my debts.

This is a PUBLIC forum, but maybe having a sub forum will help, who knows, I for one will be on the diary forum

Incidentally, if there weren't any regulars, who would answer the posts asking for help and advice?
