I wan't going to get involved in this thread, but looks like after 5 pages i may as well.

Some of the information that is useful is discussed as "chit chat" and things assumed can be brought to light as being not quite the case. eg 0% CC offers does not mean you don't need to pay anything towards the card for 9 months.

It also helps destress those that are very worried about their debt. The chat is just the same as having a support group - it helps people face and get through their debt.

Just because a message isn't on the first page doesn't mean it isn't going to get looked at. Most forums have a "view unanswered messages" option (similar to the new posts option) but i couldn't find this here. Most people look through a number of pages to see if there's anything they can answer.

When i first saw this query i thought - this isn't chat; must be... the other thing :p

Isn't it the old story though ?
Newbies get here expecting a "quick fix" then they learn that MSEing isn't about quick fixes but about a change in thinking and perspective. The diaries illustrate that best of any posts on the forum. The "Quick Fixers" will hit and run-as is their perogative-maybe that is all thay want/need out of the site. The "in it for the long haul/life transformation" folk will stay and learn and contribute. I take pride out of my "thank you" total-it shows that although I indulge in chit-chat I also give something back as well as take.

I agree I don't think they dare you have all managed 5 pages of taking the pee certainly would put me off, never mind sure you are all proud.

Maybe Martin should rethink the not judging and add belittling or taking the pee too.

This is the bit where you all make out its fun and take the pee out of someone for not joining in -thats what usually happens.

I think rayday is right here. Forums can be scarey places, something someone says can easily spiral. I have had my fair share when ive said the wrong thing, but that was when I wasnt experienced with forums and how easily things can be taken the wrong way.

I also know how much people hate change or taking on other peoples ideas - I am guilty of that myself!!

I did post a while ago about diarys being made as part of a blog like the forum I am admin on use blogs, but I was shot down and it was only an idea....

  • I don't see how anyone has taken the pee? We've merely discussed the pros and cons in a lighthearted fashion...

Had a chance to think over whats been said and taken comments on board - I'm sorry for any offence caused, didnt mean for comment to spiral, just an observation and not one I'm judging anyone on. I think 99% of the people on here are great and dont want to cause any trouble but to get on with heading in debt free direction!

    Sorry again for any offence.
