Thank you both for that, very much appreciates, i wanted to hit the thanks button but cant seem to find it?? Dam being such a technophobe!!!!
  • i agree wtith the OP, someone said that in 5 pages two people asking for help were missed, imagine if u were one of those two people. How would you have felt not getting any answers? What would u have done, probably carried on spending and getting in deeper trouble!

There needs to be something done to distinguish between the 'chat' threads and the 'Help' threads, even if this meant having a tick box so the first word of each thread would have in it so the HELP ones just stood out more because they can get shrunk by the chat threads

  • Sometimes threads get missed no-one means to do it but we all have busy lives and sometimes we get so caught up in our own business we forget others need help too.

It's a shame when people get missed, it's true - but that does not make the people who frequent this forum responsible for the financial problems of others.

The Daily CHAT thread and the Saturday Night PARTY threads are clearly labelled so that people know they are for chat. Most other threads inevitably have elements of both. Very rarely are other threads started that are purely for chat/discussion - although this thread IS guilty of that!

  • The irony of this thread is that people are so busy debating the rights and wrongs they could be putting their efforts into answering other peoples threads.

And this isn't a criticism of anyone but I see posts from users talking about how people need help etc yet they very rarely take the time to help others themselves.

This site is getting bigger and bigger by the day which inevitably means this particular board is going to get busier. But that can only be a good thing. The more people accessing this board means more people are facing up to their debts. But some threads are gonna get missed. It's not deliberate and it's not malicious. We all volunteer on here. We aren't paid for our time and efforts.

All threads like this do is put peoples backs up. It makes people who do use 'chat' threads question why they bother to give up so much of their free time to help people if others begrudge them using the board for themselves aswell.

If you want to cause fractions and divides among what is without doubt the best thing about this entire site then carry on. All your doing is subjecting new users and old to a load of sh!ttyness that some people aren't gonna hang around to witness.

I'm out of this thread now coz frankly it's boring me.
  • Sorry OP for saying this..................... but its a load of bullocks -don't take that the wrong way but it is.

If you stick around you will see that this is a very special community, please come back and we will help if we can (or do our damdest to try) but the dairies are an integral part of this board and have given hope and help to so many people who need it - even if it is only for a chat.

Many of us feel isolated, mainly due to our debt, and this is the place to come and let it all out, good and bad, a place to sound off , not feel alone and enjoy talking to others and nobody will ignore the posters that need help - ever!!!!

The thing is, this can happen with any subject on any forum across the internet. I know I've posted on non-MSE forums (I know the shame of straying!) asking for advice (car repair stuff as an example) and never had a reply.

It's the nature of forums and if you take 2 posts as a percentage of the rest it is a tiny number.

Bizarrely, I remember (when the issue was debated last time) that one of those posts in those 5 pages was started by me (I went through the 5 pages). It wasn't a question, it was a link to some thoughts about the psychological reasoning behind any 'addiction' (ie spending, eating etc) and there were no answers to it, although I wasn't expecting any particular comments. So in reality, there was 1 post which may have needed an answer out of 5 pages.

As SS says, we are here as volunteers as part of a community and talking personally, I stick around DFW because I want to try to help others - even though I don't technically need to as I'm now debt free.

Oh, ok, I stick around because you're all a bunch of loonies and I feel at home ;) :rotfl:
