I purchased a Mikomi DVD287 for £9.99 from Argos today. Connected it to an old CRT TV in the bedroom. Perfect for watching the odd DVD whilst relaxing in bed.
I have a number of region 1 [USA] DVDs and assumed that I'd be able to convert this DVD player to multi region as Martin had stated that according to techie MoneySavers, this player can easily be converted.
Can a "Techie MoneySaver" please post the remote control multi region conversion instructions as I've been unable to find any.Do It To Them Before They Do It To You

MATSUI MATDVD329 DVD Players £9.99 on Currys website.
Also it's multi region capable. On Currys page select product information and it tells you how to make it region free ! Don't waste any more time looking for Mikoni hacks;)
Beware £19.95 for delivery, reserve and collect if you can..:eek:0 -
darn it, the only reason i bought the dvd287 was because i thought it was gonna be multi region. I spent over a hundred on a lovely pioneer hdmi upscale usb divx dvd player two weeks ago... but it wasn't multiregion...
ah well, it only cost a tenner i suppose.0 -

Does anyone know where a region-free hack can be found for the Mikomi DVD287 mentioned by Martin or if there is another brand-name equivalent to this model? the only reason i got it was that Martin mentioned it could be hacked to multi-region ???????0

As I couldn't find the hack to make a Mikomi Region-free I have not bought one yet. Am interested in the Matsui now....
...but it's too big to fit inside the unit that the TV is on!
Why did Tesco ever stop selling that Value DVD player, which was a front loader, about as small as you can get and could be made region free? I have one upstairs and has been a great buy.0 -
Another thing you want to remember when buying DIVX-capable players so as to be able to play downloaded movies etc is that the new H264/AVC compression standard is fast becoming the format of choice, and it’s unlikely many of these players will support it…0

Have not seen a hack for mikomi dvd players.

I'm in the same boat. Have just spent over an hour looking through various DVD Hack sites to no avail.0
