I've tried putting it into sleep mode instead of powering off (which I normally do). But from sleeping it takes just as long to power up. If I turn it off/put it into sleep mode for a few minutes it starts up OK. It's when it's off for several hours that it won't start up again. I'll look at the task manager. I do have a lot that starts up automatically.inspectorperez said:Just an observation - do you power off every night?I normally just put my desktop into sleep mode every evening and next morning its back in action after about 30 seconds.Doesn't resolve the slow boot time issue, but it is a workaround. Also, have you looked at your start-up tab on task manager to see if there are any programs you could disable? Maybe by trial and error, you could see if there was any one item that was resource hungry on start-up?0 -
Good point though, I suppose it could just be the monitor - only one shows anything until I have logged in so if that one is faulty I would get what I am seeing.grumpycrab said:
Well, looks like my turn... blaming Alexa has to be one of THE great excuses for a slow starting computer ever. Could it be something other than the crappy Kingston SSD? what takes 30 minutes to start? do you get a spinning Windows logo the whole time? Is your monitor ok?Chomeur said:The computer is now taking up to 30 minutes to start every morning.... the problem might be that my Alexa is wired through the PC0 -
It is the monitor. I have to select which monitor is my main display. Only that one shows the login screen - the other one remains blank until I have logged in. So I've changed which one is the main display and that starts up straightaway. The other one still takes 20-30 minutes to wake up but I can live with that. If it starts taking several hours then I will have to replace it.0
