Read the reviews for the Kingston A 400
https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/SpeedTest/296710/KINGSTON-SA400S37480GGood (obviously not)
1 month ago.complete garbage, needs a firmware update, freezes and stutters for 5-20 seconds every few minutes, makes for anything but the most basic of internet browsing/youtube checking impossible or mind numbingly annoying to do.
Poor
22 days ago.Started getting really slow and inconsistent after 1 and a half years
Terrible
14 days ago.i have the same freeze prolems its garbage
Excellent
24 days ago.OS (win10 and linux mint 19) freezes and stutters for a few seconds when installed on this SSD.
Poor
3 months ago. It's been reported to have lots of issues
Excellent
1 month ago.Cheap drive that is suitable for gaming, but performs poorly in Windows and can stutter/freeze with heavy usage. Kingston should release a new firmware to address these issues.
Good
1 month ago.i need some opinion, do u guys encounter freeze in game while put this A400 on main drive windows, i get freeze game on csgo and pubg everytime i play on it.
Terrible
14 months ago.Poor write performance, its fast when its empty ~ 200MB/s, however when it passes 20%, it becomes terrible, about 40-50MB/s, on occasion it drops below 10. On linux its useless, ubuntu 18 freezes every few minutes.
Terrible
6 months ago.Worst drive i have ever owned, freezes frequenltly, unusable
Excellent
8 months ago.i use it for a while and i can say all good things about this SSD, it is not the fastest around but for the price is everything u looked for and that's it! Thumbs up! Good SSD from 1 to 5 = solid 4
Poor
13 months ago.Has a freezing problem, kingston need to update the firmware on these things
Average
7 months ago.needs DRAM as booting causes stutters on this one

Reviews for the NVMe SSD
https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/SpeedTest/634807/ADATA-SX8200PNPGood
1 month ago.very fast, similar to the performance of a samsung 970 evo for less. Even comes included with a heatsink. good write endurance makes this a good drive for longetivity. Best drive for the price.
Terrible
1 month ago.Very low performance compared to average bench for this drive!
Excellent
5 months ago.fast and cheap, imho it's like evo970 but cheaper
Excellent
1 month ago. This SSD is absolutely great...Nevermore you wont find the original and usefull & so cheap SSD like this... THATS EXTERAORDINARY SSD.
Good
13 months ago.almost same speed with samsung
Excellent
6 months ago.Performs really well for the price!
Excellent
12 months ago.High value at high performance
Excellent
5 months ago.Offered pretty much best performance and capacity at price of 80 USD currently. If you want both NVMe R/W speeds as well as high capacity storage at low price, this thing is a must buy!
Excellent
7 months ago.Loading screens? What are those? This thing boots so fast I don't even see the iconic windows 10 dots. Boots into my PC in 5 seconds tops. Games aren't as affected but that's alright because of not using sequential methods.
Excellent
9 months ago. It's very fast and cheap for the performance it provides!

OK, next time I know to check the reviews of the drive that's to be installed when I buy a new PC.
I bought the PC from Ambros (Direct) UK Ltd. I selected a 500GB drive on their order system and they then told me I should get an SSD as this was important for performance. I paid a bit extra for this and didn't give any thought as to exactly what drive would be installed.0 -

SSD a good idea. That particular SSD, bad. Crucial MX500 would have been my choice for a 2.5" SATA SSD considering the other components involved.
But you actually have a slot for an even faster NVMe SSD , so I would have utilised that as opposed to a 2.5" SATA SSD. But of course you didn't know.
You won't need to buy a new PC for a while. You can just swap the relatively poor SSD for a better one when the time comes. Takes seconds.1 -
The computer is now taking up to 30 minutes to start every morning. It just sits there with a blank screen for all that time then suddenly gets there. I contacted the seller, Ambros Direct (UK) and after suggesting to me that the problem might be that my Alexa is wired through the PC (so that the sound from both comes out of the same speakers), they are now telling me that maybe I should put a new drive in! Which is going to take me, what, half a day to figure out? Physically replacing it then reinstalling Windows then transferring all my data over. It's so annoying.0

I suppose you could clone the existing drive and copy it to a new drive? It won't enable best performance (vs a clean install) but it'll be the quickest way to get you back up and running.0

Only just read this thread after the bump with the latest info.I suggest just get another SSD and clone the current one. That should get you up and running fast within a few hours. You can sort any further gremlins at your leisure. -unless of course the seller is taking appropriate action for you!I have read with some surprise all the 'fix' and diagnostic suggestions. It should have been quite simple but you seem to have been led astray by well meaning and apparently quite knowledgeable people. However I believe the correct approach should have been:1 Andy Pix's suggestion (and the latter clarification) to run Malwarebytes, accept default actions, then Adware removal.2 After that look at performance presentation as per your post 15 July. Check CPU performance, memory use, disc use then network use in that order.3 disk check software such as provided by Seagate or WD....cos there might still be issues not showing up easily. At that stage the C drive issue would have shown up...problem found.Yes there was other good info..low CPU use shortly after boot, just one AV running at any one time and other useful things but 1 and 2 are the basic essentials and after getting up to speed a full scan by your AV prog. (done last as MB should catch most things quite quickly up front and a slower full AV scan could take an age with a faulty system). If Malware was found with either scan ask yourself how you might have got it and make sure it has all gone!!Ok fair comment that this is with the benefit of hindsight (if anyone does comment on my post!) but it does follow my general way of working.0

Just an observation - do you power off every night?I normally just put my desktop into sleep mode every evening and next morning its back in action after about 30 seconds.Doesn't resolve the slow boot time issue, but it is a workaround. Also, have you looked at your start-up tab on task manager to see if there are any programs you could disable? Maybe by trial and error, you could see if there was any one item that was resource hungry on start-up?0
