What's the exact name of the Antimalware process that suddenly shoots up?
As per frozen ... run full AV and Malware scans of your D drive and let them complete (e.g. let them run - separately - overnight if necessary). Once they're done the applications may be happy that the drive is OK so won't try to hog resources to scan it again.0 -

Which version of MBAM did you install? The free version or the paid-for version?0

It would sound easier to get everything off the D drive and onto C than get my head around all of the other things you are suggesting, to be honest.0 -
Now we are going round in circles. AndyPix in the previous thread suggested installing Malwarebytes to fix the problem. Now that I have done so you are suggesting that that might be the cause of the problem!0

It's funny. It stopped after I unplugged the D drive. But now, after a couple of weeks it has started again. That's with no D drive, no BetAngel running, and after a Malware Bytes scan. I think I may just have to live with the problem.0

I assume you don't have enough RAM. Also, the problem may occur because the HDD is too slow.0

A/V and anti-malware can clash.No.Malwarebytes plays nicely with all the AV's.I wouldnt try anything else until I had got rid of all those pups - i would bet my bottom dollar they are causing your issues.1. Restart the machine. (Not shutdown, actually click restart)2. before opening any other programs, run scan with malwarebytes and let it delete anything it finds.3 download and run adwcleaner. This will remove any rogue scheduled tasks etc that were related to the pups/malware.restart again and see if that gets it0
