Afternoon potterssssss
Another lovely £2 coin from the post office yesterday after posting a few more bits off, i've cleared loads of room in my office and the house and made a few quid so thats good!
Did Dear Uncles shopping for him today so I have £30 in my purse and am umming and ahhing about potting some of it as I feel a bit bereft not having money to pot!
Our Maccy D's opened up this wednesday, the queue! we had a couple of people in kids pedal cars and electric cars going through, made us laugh, don't know if they got served though
We refrained, as much as DD wants a maccy's I am not sitting in a 45 min queue for a cheeseburger! We'll take her in a few weeks when it calms down a bit.
DD still isn't back at school, doesn't seem to be any info about secondary school
I've kind of resigned myself to her being with us till September, i'm doing my best with her schooling but i'm not a teacher. She makes me laugh as for the past week she has been coming up to me every few days and going 'mum, can I go to the park and social distance with my friend?' and trotting off happy as larry when I say yes. They play football, kicking it back and forth from about 6 mtrs away from each other and its some exercise and fresh air for them both, plus I do think its important that the kids get some socialisation time that isn't via facetime, she's certainly been a lot perkier since i've allowed her to go out to the park rather than just her 'mum and me' bike rides shes been having. Hi all Sealed Potters!
Here's hoping you had a super weekend, the weather here yesterday afternoon was beautiful, though darned cold in the evening!
Still KEEP HEALTHY folks and don't take any risks! Please wear masks in all public places as well as on public transport -
IT'S YOUR LIFE and the lives of your loved ones!!!!!!
For all those Potters who are poorly or low in anyway, take very good care of yourselves and please get well soon!
Love and hugs to you all.
I'm so pleased your little lad is back in school again, Hetty, and that you've got time to yourself as well as your work. What a shame he's started being naughty so soon though. Hopefully the stern words from you and his teacher will get through to him, I do hope so, but most kiddies have their times of giving vent to their feelings. It's such a shame when they're so good at other times.I don't blame you for not waiting in a queue for that long just for a cheese burger, jakes-mum. Our DGD went on the first day of them opening here, she didn't say how long it took, but she had a wry grin on her face! Personally DH & I hate them.More decluttering then, but at least it got you some money!
Our DD goes out with their 2 younger Sons every day for a good long walk with the dog, a good a way as any to get exercise and fresh air.As long as Lily sticks to football with her friends they shouldn't be at too much of a risk - so long as they don't tackle!! The bike riding with you will have done her a great deal of good, you too.Well done with the potting.Crikey ONLY TWO SPC MEMBERS throughout the entire weekend!!!!!!!!
Hard to believe from what it used to be. I really do hope things pick up as if they don't I will definitely be finishing it at the end of this year.
Enjoy the WEEK everyone, and stay healthy!
SueNB folks: Opening date for SPC 13 is 29th October 2020.Anyone wishing to join us, it's NEVER too late!
So please just ask and you will be made very welcome.

I have enjoyed my bike rides out with DD, we haven't managed to go for a couple of weeks as I pushed it too far and had a bad week and then its just been too cold, rainy and windy for me to go.Sue-UU said:As long as Lily sticks to football with her friends they shouldn't be at too much of a risk - so long as they don't tackle!! No chance of them too doing tackles, they just kick the ball back and forth
I miss the regulars
I used to love coming on and reading peoples news, hearing about new babies, new jobs etc, I don't know if its just everything going on right now, or people have moved on from the thread, but its a bit like the morale has gone
If the thread closes I shall still do my tins, i'm not sure it will be as exciting on count up day (who is going to tell me when to open my tins!) with no friends in my computer to tell what i've saved but I understand theres no point having the thread if its only a few of us popping in to post.
Well in more exciting news, I cashed out all my fleabay sales and potted a very nice £65 into the tin!SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £2470.95/£1000 (19) £0/£10005 -
Morning fellow potters,
I have been in enforced quarantine here in Oz since returning from the UK, today is my release day i hope..
It’s been a topsy turvey 9 months to say the least. DH and I came back in September last year to see family, for dh it had been 2 years since his last visit I try to get back at least once a year. Within days of us getting back to Oz we had a phone call to say mil had fallen and taken to hospital, to cut a long story short and lots of phone calls she spent her birthday, Christmas, new year in hospital eventually being discharged into a “hospital bed” within a care home (that’s another story)
That’s when we came back again, in February, to see her and find a permanent placement for her as she couldn’t stay there and was deemed palliative. We did find her a superb care home, settled her in and returned to Oz. Daily phone calls reinstated back to UK we then get the one every ex pat dreads, she had taken a turn for the worst. She passed away at 11pm (UK time) April 18th. Thankfully she wasn’t alone, a friend/neighbour was with her at the time. It was sudden with no indication what so ever, dh was on the phone to them earlier that day.
With a 2 week delay on funerals we managed to book flights and return again to finalise funeral arrangements - you’d be surprised what you can do 10,000 miles away - and sort out her affairs.
The funeral was very surreal, only 5 of us there, Covid has a lot to answer for...
We landed back in Oz 2 weeks ago into enforced quarantine, nice hotel, good job dh and I get on
and we have survived, how others have got on I don’t know especially those on their own or with young children. It will feel strange leaving here and going back to “normal” I really don’t want to go back to work after having so much time off but need to if only to replenish the savings after 3 trips back in less than a year.
So, not much has been going into the pot of late, hopefully that will change soon, and there’s lots more to tell but wouldn’t know where to start or stop lol!
I have been going through my old posts on MSE and discovered I first became a “potter” in August 2008
and earliest post on MSE was in 2006, where have those years gone...

Hello all, well my boy heeded the hard words and was praised by the teacher on Monday for his excellent behaviour at lunchtime. He is also producing some decent schoolwork which is far more than I could manage with him. It’s nice and quiet when he is out but I still don’t feel that productive at work ☹️. I have to say my tin doesn’t feel as heavy as last year but I’m hoping it’s because I’ve filled it with notes instead 😂. Hi Potters, I'm still here

Just need to catch up with all the news as it's been a couple of weeks since I was last here. We are still in lockdown in Wales and not allowed to travel more than 5 miles (fine if you live in a town or city, but our nearest town is 8 miles away, so that's impossible!) Like many people, we are happy to be at home and safe, however, we are very much missing seeing our family as they all live further than 5 miles away. Fingers crossed, by the end of June we will be allowed to travel a bit further afield. My MIL and FIL have been told to stay indoors until 19 August, so there will be no chance of seeing them anytime soon, however, if we are allowed to travel later in the month, I've told them we will sit on their driveway and talk to them through the window. I am keeping a tally of iou's for my pot and it's up to £60 now. It will be October before I manage to get to the bank to withdraw the cash! I hope we do keep the forum going. I know I haven't been posting as often as I was but it's such a great support network and so lovely to hear the news from all our lovely potters.
Keep safe everyone

Did you get my message that I sent to you last week? You can share my news on here if you like.
frogletina.Hello again Frogletina, lovely to see you and very many congratulations on the birth of your darling great grandson!!!!
I'm so sorry about not seeing the PM you sent, a real shame they obviously don't send the notifications any longer.
Here's the news for all SPC members to share in. Though please bear in mind folks that Frogletina's husband and son both suddenly passed away last year!"Hello Sue
I have news for you.I am a great grandmother!
Oakley was born on Thursday morning and as my granddaughter is living with me while we are on lockdown I am having a lovely, if tiring, time.
He was 5 days early, and 6lb 2oz. He is beautiful. In other news, I have finally exchanged contracts on my son's house, which seems to have taken ages. I went there for the last time on Tuesday and shed a few tears, thinking of all the lovely times I spent there with him.
I hope things are ok with you, and you are coping with your COPD, which cannot be easy.. Life can be so hard.
I'm not sure if I've mentioned on the thread that I have been suffering with double vision. It is likely to be myasthenia gravis, which could be just ocular, but could be general which is worse. I cannot get a diagnosis due to my hospital appt being cancelled due to the coronavirus. I should be seen now late June.
Do take care.Love, Frogletina"As you clearly see folks, poor Frogletina is still suffering now, I sincerely hope the news she receives at the end of June is the best we can all hope forHi all Potters!
Here's hoping you're enjoying the week even though the weather's not up to much!
For all those Potters who are poorly or low in anyway, take very good care of yourselves and please get well soon!
Love and hugs to you all.
I wondered if you might have overdone things on your bike, jakes-mum, do take care! I did wonder after posting if Lily would probably have been sensible enough to have simly been kicking the ball to and from each other, of course I was right!!
I'm glad it isn't just me whose missed other members dropping in with their news, especially of new births, that's why I was thrilled to put Frogletina's on!
If the thread does close, I too will still still pot my notes etc regularly, as you say though, it certainly won't be the same come Declaration Day, still you can still PM me.
Fantastic news on your £65 potted!!!!!Hello mummytummy, by golly you've done some travelling recently! A topsy turvey 9 months indeed. I'm so very sorry that in the end your DH's Mother passed away, so quickly though, and the ideal way most people would wish for. How sad there could only be 5 at her funeral. All that travel must have cost a fortune, all the best in gradually recouping it. It sounds like and extremely nice hotel you were quarantined in!By golly haven'y the years flown by since we joined, though they've flown by for every event for sure!Look after yourself.I'm delighted to hear the news of your little lad, Hetty, really pleased indeed. What a relief eh. I don't think you're the only one whose having problems being productive from what I've heard. Our SIL is going back on Friday in preparation for re-opening on Monday. He's manager of a book shop and is quite concerned as we still have a just above R1 Covid number, so although they're only allowed 5 people in the shop at a time, it's what's in the air around them all!!I don't know what will happen yet about the thread, but I've never known it this quiet, and it's been this way for a good couple of months or more. We'll see Hetty, I just hope all the members are safe and healthy!Hello siju, don't worry as I wasn't talking about those who have only not been here for a couple of weeks, there are many who have't been here for months. More than anything it just worries me about their health! I know it's always slow in the summer months, but never this bad. It may be due to cash and not wanting to touch it, I just wish folk would come and say.I must admit to being lucky with our DD as she's right next door so we can talk over the gates, there are two gates with the distance of a cow between them. Our DS is a mile away but that's a LONG way at times such as this. That's a very long time for your poor MIL & FIL. With all your family I would definitely do as you've suggested, it can't do any harm. Our SIL in law is doing similarly with his parents; they come by car and sit in it outside by the bank which is between us all and the road. There's more than one way to kill a cat, so to speak. Well done with your £60, I've managed £80 so we're doing well!KEEP HEALTHY folks and please don't take any risks! Please wear masks in all public places as well as on public transport - IT'S YOUR LIFE and the LIVES of your loved ones!!!!!!
Enjoy your Thursday everyone, and stay healthy!

Hi Sue-UU
Thank you for passing my message on to all potters.
I have put together a guide to getting notifications including private messages. It is not intuitive at all.
Press the figure in the circle
Press the bell icon. (The letter icon shows private messages)
Press the symbol top right (like 3 spoons)
Scroll down and tick what notifications you want to receive, to do this on a mobile you need this to be in landscape mode.
Click on save preferences.
Hope this helps.
