Have a super holiday denise. It's a brilliant idea to have a sunshine holiday in winter. :)

I was reading an article earlier about looking after your general health during December because of bugs around and sleep and eating disrupted by parties. They said something that reminded me of SW. We'll be eating around 90+ meals this month and realistically (unless you're denise:p) only a fraction of them will be meals out. What the nutritionists in the article said was that there's no need to just give up on December and eat rubbish all the time and it's better for our health to eat wisely whenever we can. :)

DH isn't feeling very well today so all he's eaten is 2 plain biscuits. I've rejigged the menu to have a freezer meal tonight so that if he's not hungry I can make myself an omelette or something rather than wasting something fresh.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, banana (F), HEB Weetabix, HEA1 milk
L: LO cottage pie (P, S, F), stir fried veg (mushrooms, courgettes, mange tout) and pickled cabbage (S)
D: meatballs (P) with HM tomato sauce (S) and spaghetti (F), HEA2 Parmesan
    Syns: None planned

Today's the final day at home and it's actually to plan!

B - breakfast hash (from freezer) - pork mince P; courgettes, mushrooms, butternut squash, onions, garlic (can't remember what else!) S; fried egg P
L - prawns, scallops P; sweetcorn kernels F; roasted veg couscous 1.5 Syns; lettuce, celery, spring onions, cucumber S
D - toad in the hole 2 syns sausages, flour 4.5, egg P, milk HEA2, roasted jackets F; red cabbage; green veg S

    HEA1 - milk in tea
    HEA2 - milk in batter
    HEB - none planned

Happy holidays Denise. Hope you have a fab time, and soak up some sunshine for all of us :D

Welcome to the thread Beth. The contributors here are excellent at helping you when you're getting to grips with the plan.

Life is just a bit too 'extra' at the mo, so I am often not online much in my free time, hence not contributing as I usually would. I am also using the advice of good when I can be, careful when I cannot. It hasn't stopped a 0.5lb gain last week, that I'm hoping to be rid of this week. Maintaining will be the minimum I hope to achieve before Christmas, and a gain is my obvious ideal.

I will pop by when I can, but attempting to at least read every few days if I'm not 'here'.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home

sary did you really mean to say your ideal would be a gain? Surely you really want a loss!

  • Have a great holiday denise, jealous you are going to sunnier pastures . I had a meal out at our local village hall Sat, but was sensible and asked for extra veg, left the potatoes and ate the chicken sans skin. For dessert went for the diabetic option of fruit salad, tried a tiny bite of OHs lemon tart, so glad I didn’t pick that option, not worth the syns ;). And yesterday had 5 visitors for lunch at mine, did lots of SW recipes, so totally on plan :). So thank goodness, after last week’s 2.5lb gain, this week I have lost 3lbs, am over the moon :D. Have bought another 6wk countdown, and decided to keep going to group religiously this month. Anything to keep me on track really. I feel rubbish after self sabotage, so have decided to leave the snacky food shopping for when the kids come home for xmas will have to wait til they are actually here. Much safer for me that way.

Welcome to any new joiners and well done to any others sticking to plan during this hard month :).

I expect denise is in the air and on her way by now. Lucky lady.;)

Well done on your loss PIB. So pleased for you that you lost that gain so quickly and then some.:T

I think it's a brilliant idea to not buy things that you know might encourage you to self sabotage. Buying the family things that you don't particularly like is good too as is buying in SW friendly snacks.

Last year I bought my two favourites: chocolate marzipan and cherry liqueurs and I'd treat myself to one of each most evenings over the holiday. I'd rather do that than just graze on stuff just because it's there. Unfortunately they don't seem to have any of them in Aldi this year so I'll have to try Lidl.

DH didn't fancy a proper dinner last night so I just made myself an omelette before I went out and left him to snack on bland stuff. I still stuck 100% to plan though and not a syn passed my lips. He's much improved today so the normal menu will resume.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, skinny syrup, banana (F), HEB porage with HEA milk
L: JP (F) with cottage cheese (P), spring onions and pickles (S)
D: chicken casserole (P,S) with new potatoes and butter beans (F), cauli, kale, broccoli, cabbage (S)
    Syns: cornflour 1

  • Thanks maman. Have you tried the Ritter chocolate marzipan? Sainsburys and Waitrose sell various flavours of Ritter chocolate squares for around £1, the marzipan one is in red packaging and is very nice :).

I have my sister and her daughter visiting from Holland from tomorrow for a few days. Planning to stay on plan foodwise. I know she tried SW but didn’t last very long ;), the latest is she turned vegetarian last week after watching one of those documentaries 🙄. So not sure my Campfire Stew planned for tomorrow will go down well. I’d better prepare a Plan B as well.

Bubbs, which chocolate are you looking forward to having over Christmas? Do you find your tastes have changed now in regard to sweet treats?
