Yooooooooooooohooooooo - guess who's back!!! :j
Been lost without my broadband but it's finally back (for a couple of days at least until we change supplier).
The new house is fantastic - we're all loving it and DD2 has now mastered sleep walking downstairs (was in a bungalow previously) - bless her.
Hope you're all ok and getting into the Christmas spirit.
Have a great evening."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
DONNY-GAL - he's fit, your DS! I can see he'll have lots of hormonal women lusting after him!
TAPLADY - (((hugs))) to your DS.
Well, back from the dentist - I've been VERY brave and had an injection (which, to be honest, didn't hurt a bit - my dentist always uses gel first before injecting and it's really good.) Anyway, that's all over; had a check-up as well and, fingers crossed, no further treatment - just another check-up in six months and the hygienist if I feel like it; he said it's up to me. As they now charge almost £30, I think I'll leave it for a bit longer!
Visited a charity shop nearby and bought some books; one is called The Domestic Juggling Book and was written in 1983. It has sections such as 'n the Home: Supersavers & Handy Hints' and an intriguing one called 'nusual Recipes & Kitchen Economies'(anyone fancy Blackberry Ketchup?!), and 'alancing the Family Budget' Here's the forward to the last one; 'Budgeting needs will-power and perserverence. Mentally, it can often be as precarious as the physical exercise of balancing books on one's head. Everything tends to slide sideways and fall into an untidy heap on the floor. Someone once remarked 'I dread the last Sunday of the month when we attempt to settle all the bills. They are put into a box, shaken, then we choose the two debts we must pay and the remainder are left until next time!' An organised, well-planned financial life is a good mental discipline. Boring perhaps, but it eliminates ulcers.' I don't think there's a box big enough for all the bills we seem to accumulate these days.
Oh, now my desk lamp has broken - and we only changed the bulb yesterday. It's one of those long swan-necked ones and the neck has snapped off at the base; that's the second thing today, the hoover was making funny noises this morning. I've just found my old desk lamp (circa 1970) - a really ugly thing that will never break!
Anyway, off to have a cuppa.
(((Hugs))) to all.

Afternoon all
Hugs for Taplady's DS, hope they catch the idiot.
Beef Stroganof for tea, it smells nice so I hope it tastes nice too. I'm about to start a pile of washing as I didn't get it done over the weekend. One of the male R E teachers walked into my office today, just as I was describing what I wore on Saturday to my boss, she asked me if I wore a bra & I said no, the poor man went bright red, I don't think he'll be back for a while.
Hugs Hester

:hello:
How is everyone?
I've been really lazy today, went back to bed after dropping DS off.
I'm so blooming angry, i had a car accident 3 months ago and have been having back problems ever since, my soplicitors have arranged for me to have physio with an osteopath which i started but he said i needed more treatment before i could go back to work.
But because it is being paid for through settlement i had to wait for conformation i could go ahead with 12 more sessions - the last session i had with him was 4 weeks ago  the company paying told me their turnaround was 1 week grrrrr.
So last week because i couldnt get out for a few days i ended up faxing it on thrisday, the woman phoned me today to say they hadnt received it yet !!!!!!!
I blooming faxed it already, they are soooooo annoying, so now i got to go and fax it agin
My sick note runs out on the 29th and there is no way i'm physically able to go back to this job at the moment, and my doctors are just being arises, probably think i'm putting it on or something.
Oh and to top it off, i was informed i could only get my loss of wages back if they feel i needed to be off all this time, they look at the medical report, yeah the least throrough repot in the history of the world, taken only 4 weeks after the accident, and i was 'examined' for all of 5 mins  i've had loads more probs since then, including pressure on my siatic nerve, how they expect me to be able to lift, bend and stretch the way i usually do in my job is beyond me, i have trouble picking my 3.5 string bean up let alone a 12 stone dead weight OAP!
Oops sorry i went off into a right rant there - sorry
Taplady - hope ur DS is ok, tell him to take it easy, my injuries didnt really start getting really bad until a few weeks after my accident and tbh i dont think overdoing it at work helped my situation.
Pipkin - where is you? hope you are ok today :A
Haribo - I didnt realise you are an OSer! :j
I'm having my leftover frozen west indian style curry for dinner tonigh, so i'm hoping my bum wont be stuck to the toilet again tommorrow :rotfl::j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
Hi everone,
Taplady, glad to hear that ds is ok. As Churchmouse said, he might have delayed shock.
Update on the wedding cake [STRIKE]fiasco[/STRIKE] /saga.
I made the lemon sponges yesterday. So at 9.15 this morning I started the white chocolate ganache. Unfortunately when you heat white chocolate, it turns bright lemon curd yellow - not the colour for a wedding cake:mad: . Luckily I hadn't put it on the cake.
So I set off for MrT for ready made white frosting (as they hadn't wanted a traditional cake!}. OK so £4 later (how much does this stuff cost!!! ) I got back at 10.05 and started to frost the cake. Then I added the pearlised glitter they wanted and the ribbons.
DISASTER - the ribbons started to soak up greasy streaks and the whole thing looked like a lump of buttercream cottage loaf! At this point I was about to cry - it was !11am, the wedding was at 2.30 and I had a lump of buttercream fit for the bin. And the frosting tasted like Play Doh.
Again I headed for MrT andI admit I was going to buy 2 ready iced fruit ckes, stack them on top of each other and decorate them. However they had wanted lemon sponge and there was nothing wrong with the cakes. Sainsburys provided 2 boxes of ready rolled icing. (Yes, I clocked up the mileage this morning)
Home at 11.30 - removed and washed the ribbons and ironed them dry. Washed the cake board. Scraped all the disgusting frosting off the cakes and started again with the ready rolled icing. Rubbed the remaining glitter into the icing - really pretty effect, attached the ribbons again, added the topper I had made and at 12.10 had a cake that looked pretty ok.
Drove it over to the hotel for 12.30 and collapsed as a complete nervous wreck. That is the last time dh will ever volunteer me for a wedding cake - no matter how much of an emergency.
I think several large glasses of vino are called for this evening.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Welcome back Pooky and big hugs to anyone poorly or MIA esp Tapmaster - how awful. Pooky we had to have a stair gate at the top until dd22 left home. She always did manage the stairs ok but it stopped me from sleeping thinking that she might not
Just back from Mr T with dd to get the bits for the xmas pudding - looked at the recipe again and it can only be made up to a month before so may leave it a couple of weeks as I want to take some with me to Holland in January. dd11 took some pocket money and treated herself to some ice cream and T-value white bread - poor deprived child that she isI treated myself to some freezer bags as I am down to three decent recycled ones - oh the excitement
The house next to us is rented out on short leases - I think it's divided up into bedsits. Some new people moved in a couple of weeks ago and seem to be holding prayer meetings at the house on a regular basis. so far it has mostly been singing but last night when dd went to bed a lady was shouting for well over an hour - I put my ear to the wall (that glass trick from the movies does't work by the way) and it was very fire and brimstone. Probably quite good for the soul but not very good for dd at that time of night who ended up sleeping on the sofa as it all seemed to be going on in the room backing on to hers. Have put a note in today so hopefully they will keep it down next time.
Tea tonight is something that looks like it might have been a stirfry in a former life and some reduced veggie spring rolls - I will be glad when this freezer challenge is overI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
