Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 26th November. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning everyone,

Jayward, I was very sorry to hear about the sudden loss of your sister. I’m thinking of you and your family. <<hugs>>
Kaz, sorry to hear things aren’t great for you at the moment. I hope you feel better soon.
Nelski and Panda, I hope you had a lovely day yesterday and enjoyed the alcohol roast beef!
Pen Pen, I love the pictures of your chickens. They look in fabulous condition…even mouse looks lovely, despite her dubious morals. ;):D
Gingham, you little chatterbox! :D Congratulations on 17,000 posts! :T
Happy Birthday to twink! I hope you have a great day! :bdaycake:

I had a really busy weekend at work so I didn’t get a chance to post on the daily and now, despite being really tired I can’t sleep, so I got up to make a hot chocolate and thought I’d say hello.

Dd and her friends had a fantastic night on Friday at the school formal and they all looked gorgeous. They were looking forward to it so much, so I’m glad that they had such a brilliant time. For anyone who wants to have a peek you can see some pics here and here.

Update on Adam, which is what is keeping me awake. When he first became ill the doctors told us it would be at least four weeks before he would be able to go back to school. He has lost a stone in weight, is continuing to lose blood and still tires very easily but seems so much brighter than he was. Obviously at first we were only concerned for his health, but he seems to be recovering slowly and we were beginning to worry about him missing so much school. The problem is that he doesn’t go to a local school (his own choice) and has to leave in the morning at 7.15am and doesn’t get home until 5.30pm. That makes for a very long day. The school have been very supportive and the Dean phoned on Friday to ask how he was. I mentioned my worries about him being off for so long and he was lovely and suggested that we try three days this week with him going in until lunchtime to see how he copes. As he’s really been missing his friends Adam is delighted. He’s mad about rugby and there is no way he’ll be able to play any sport, let alone rugby, for a while so I’m trying to meet him half way. I just hope I’m doing the right thing by allowing him go back early. :undecided

So my plans for today are: Get them all out to school, then I'll do the normal post-weekend bombsite clear up. After that I have paperwork I need to do for work, and then later, I'll drive into the city centre to collect ds1 at lunchtime. We’ll just be back in time to collect ds2 from school and as Monday is a heavy homework night for him, most of the afternoon will be taken up with that. Quiche, baked potatoes and whatever else I can think of for tea and then I’m off to work this evening for a break! :D

I hope you all have a good day.

    Hi Pink

I'm awake as well - I went bed at 9pm because I was tired then woke up at 2 and couldn't get back to sleep! Pleased to here your DS is going back to school part-time - I'm sure it'll make his recovery quicker as he won't be worrying about missing school and will be spending some time with his mates, etc. If it is too much for him you can always keep him at home again.

    Happy Birthday Twink!

Hope everyone has a good day

    Morning, PINK, JULIEJIM and AUSSIE.

PINK - gorgeous photos. What a stunner! Good luck to Adam at school.

JAYWARD - so sorry to hear of your loss. Thinking of you.

PAM - had a quick scan of yesterday's posts and was pleased to hear that your knee is feeling better. Onwards and upwards, then, but babysteps needed!

Well done on your dishcloth, AUSSIE.

I've had a busy weekend doing DH's business accounts - it's really the only time we argue about anything because he forgets to fill in the counterfoils on cheques or to note down which receipt belongs to which job, so it's a matter of cross-referencing practically everything he does - not much fun when you're tired and would much rather be doing something else. Still, he's working as a sub-contractor for the foreseeable future, so there won't be nearly as much paperwork. Long may it continue! Mind you, I now have to read up on the official HMRC paperwork for that, as well!

I didn't sleep very well last night - had restless legs and an even more restless brain! It doesn't help knowing that I have an appointment at the dentist this afternoon - for a filling! Yippee!! Still, the dentist is in the next village so I will have a mooch round the charity shops there - haven't been there for ages so I shall enjoy that, as long as I'm not too numb.

Well, I'd better go and start DH's packed lunch. I want to make some cakes, have a quick flick through the house, visit the gym and do a bit more Christmas wrapping this morning.

Will drop in later - hope everyone has a good day and many (((hugs))) to those who are still unwell.

PINK glad to hear your DS is slowly getting better.

    TWINK happy birthday:bdaycake:

Got up early to do some exercise. Feel a bit more like me this week and less dozy. This PMT really is driving me nuts. I shall be glad when I'm post-menopausal. Today I have to run round the house and do some shopping. Thought I would go to Sainsburys for a nose. I always tend to think it's too expensive but we shall see. Tea is bubble and squeak and sausages Yum!:D

have a good day and hugs to all who feel poorly and grotty:A xxx

    Morning.

Pink, lovely photos, you must be proud. Hope adam is ok and doesn't overdo it.
    Happy birthday Twink.

I need to get myself moving, I'm off out for lunch, it's a fundraising lunch for Manchester Childrens Hospital, with a flower demo by Karl Wilde. Shame I'm no good ar flower arranging, he makes it look so easy and the results are stunning.

    Have a good day.

Big hugs to Kaz, Pink & JackieO.

I'm off to work soon, it's going to be busy I have 1500 each of 12 documents to produce by 8am & I didn't have the master by the time I left on Friday, I'll probably get it about 10ish & then have staff jumping up and down in a panic, still I won't be panicing I have the answer, it's DILLIGAF.
It stands for Do I Look Like I Give A F***. Sorry I know it's rude, it's a song by an Austalian comedian called Kevin Wilson. But it does sum up my attitude at work, everything is left till the last minute by the staff & then they get panicy when I can't produce stuff quick enough. Ok rant over.

This week I'm working my way through the 'How to feed your family cook book' so I'm going to the butchers tonight & buying what I need, most recipes seem to be for 4 so I'll freeze 2 portions of everything.

Hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

Jayward, so sorry for your loss, and lots of virtual :grouphug:

Pink, glad Adam is feeling a bit better, I can't believe you have the only child who wants to go to school

Mioliere, good luck at the dentist, hope you find a treasure in the charity shops

Nothing much planned for today, I have a pile of washing like Everest, so that will take up this morning.

Going to order a Sky + box today and hope it will arrive by Christmas

Hope everyone is OK, have a good day :hello:

Popped back to say Happy Birthday Twink :bdaycake:

TWINK - Happy Birthday to you!:bdaycake:

HARDUPHESTER - I hope you get all the work done today. I like the DILLIGAF! I wonder if Kevin Wilson is the Australian comedian I once had a tape of (I lent it to someone and never got it back) - it was a bit rude about Christmas but so funny. One of the lines went something like 'Morning, Father Christmas, where the f***s  me bike?'. It used to have us in stitches.

Well, DH has just been despatched and I've cleared up the breakfast things, made the bed, cleaned the bathroom and had a quick tidy up. I'm going to make some cakes in a minute. I've just found some books to list on Amazon - need to try and get some more pennies in. My filling this afternoon is going to cost £50, plus I'm having a check-up at the same time and that goes up by £1 every six months - I reckon my visit to the dentist will cost about £80! Well, I suppose it preserves my teeth and will prevent me having toothache all over Christmas!

Well, better get a wiggle on. Will call in later.
