We applied for the tax free childcare. We have been allocated it for one child but not the other two. We are entitled to all three so I will need to ring them again and figure out where we have gone wrong.
The crystal ball app for gas and electricity estimated our spend at 330 this month. We are at 251 spent so far so although we should come in under the predicted amount again by the end of month the bill is actually still huge.
We have two large/very leaky bay windows which don't help. Conscious effort to use less gas and electricity continues but obviously with price increases this will only help so much. And I've been alternating between being freezing cold and hot sweats the last few days which won't have helped eitherJan 18 Joint debts 35,213

This is made up of 50 quid? Ish possibly left to pay on a card, will know when statement comes next week.
900 (card with interest) I'm aiming to clear this first.
2520 (card with interest)
2886 (interest free for a while yet)
1734 (interest free another 2.5 years)
Plan of action. -pay minimum on all, clear the 900 by Dec 2023. Try and transfer the othe card with interest to a 0 percent deal.
Continue to pay minimums on other halfs debts.
Off to change sigJan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Not much to report just yet. D.debits will start to go out next week. Have been updating my excel sheet so I know where I'm up to. Most of us in the house ended up with covid so heating has been on a bit more. All starting to feel better and should (fingers crossed) all be back at work and school by the end of the week. I've started the penny a day challenge in preparation for next Xmas. I'm going in random order and linking it to my Tilly tallies. Three numbers crossed off so far. My new percent is 80.90. I'm aiming for ten percent paid by next Xmas. July if I want to really push it.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Tax free childcare claim gone a bit wrong. Spoke to them yesterday and there is a technical hitch on my account that's been escalated to the IT people. Have been advised to pay by other means then go through a complaints procedure to see if I can get the 20% contribution refunded. Not gonna rely on it being repaid just in case. Blow to my budget though as I'd budgeted only having to pay 80% of my childcare this.month... ah well. It never rains it pours ehJan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Having young children is difficult. They cost so much money. I've been looking at the penny challenge and I'm going to start this.1

Yeah they cost a fortune dont they. And still costing as they are starting to get older. Worth it though.
Normally I put aside money for Xmas but I borrowed it repeatedly this year so was left with none. I figure it's better to chuck the money at the card with interest and hope that my 365 penny a day challenge takes the brunt of next year's Xmas. I think it saves about 650 or so if you complete it. You just have to remember to pay yourself the high numbers when you can afford toJan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Small d debit went out today and so we are off on the debt busting journey again. Penny a day challenge complete and car full of petrol. My petrol budget is 80 a month. It cost 70 to fill so hoping not to need to add the extra tenner so that money can go elsewhere instead. Trying to have a cheap month. Three things planned. One fully paid the other two still to pay out for from our 80 a month entertainment budget.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

It's always food budget we go over especially at moment. Need to be strict, have no waste and try and free up more money for it again once debts have been drilled down. It's gonna be a long journey as I've always known but I would like to hammer them down some more.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Drum roll please.... My gas and electricity spend this month was 296. Projected spend from octopus was 330. Now I would like to say that for 296 quid we have been toasty warm but we have not...our electricity was a steady 9-10 units a day over summer and is now 10-12 a day which makes sense I suppose. Need to get strict on the electric I think next month as I don't want to run the heating any less than we have and it's obv getting colder each day.crystal ball has estimated spend in Dec as even higher. Again a target to beatJan 18 Joint debts 35,213
