Eek! That’s horrendous, no one will be able to build up credit during the summer at that, this year is bad next year could be so so much worse

  • Oh and we now have a gadget-special plug to measure what appliances cost in energy. Some interesting results so far. Set top box for now tv for instance 16 quid a year for standby. Will experiment and see how I get on. Am fully expecting our energy use to be lots of little things that add up but you never know

Hope the gadget thing works, and hopefully today's news has been a slight relief for you.

  • Yes mega relief. It's made it within reach. Just shows we need to buckle down and get organized and sort my finances doesn't it. The true cost of gas and electric would have meant eldest not doing wraparound care ehich although technically he could according to schools rules  and prob will from spring he's not quite ready.  Or me working a second job when dh off. I've done that before when kids were little and it was hard. For now I'm glad I can stick to my 4 day week. V grateful for the help. God knows how the country will pay for it though

It's just crazy isn't it. And there was Boris telling us to buy new kettles.  Just shows how completely out of touch they are.

Maybe that's his new employment plan. Curry's and ao watch out. Boris has a new plan.
Budget wise internet has been very hit and miss round here and my spreadsheet keeps locking me out. Think we are having new wires put in at by vans all over.
I will be hearing from octopus they said with new rates and suggested d debits by end of week. I'll update the budget then. It's all been so uncertain hasn't it.

  • I had a little diy win this week. We were quoted 240 to replace some lino in the bathroom. It was a bit stinky after years of young children so when I realized we were no longer going to freeze or eat I enquired as to how much it cost for it to be replaced. Obviously they would have done a much better job than me. Much much better but for a space that was 1.5 metre square I couldn't justify that amount. So did it myself. I'm very much at first day apprentice level-probbaly worse but it's half decent and the bath mat covers the little whoopsies anyhow. Cost me 35 quid. :)
