Weekly Flylady Thread 26th November 2007

  • A million, million thanks to all the flyladies who have inspired me to get my house into shape. Just had the estate agent on the phone - a viewer wanting to come immediately and I was able to say "Fine, no problem!" and the house was immaculate. Although the house has never been anywhere near the Kim and Aggie standard it did used to take an hour or so to get it how I wanted it for viewers, so thank you, thank you, thank you!

Pigpen Try the 'I am an adult, I remember being a little sh*t just like you, and you are not going to get me down' approach, I HATED when my Mother did that to me! Though I was more 'emo' than tearaway, my bro was the tearaway... We kinda just ignored him when he started his 'I own the world and your all irritating' carp. Hope he calmed down after seeing his lock had been removed! LOL, my Dad did that to my bro, so bro started putting his chest of drawers in front of the door, so my Dad REMOVED the door!!! That was a fun week...

Well, yesterday was a complete waste of a day! Went into town, felt a bit, iffy, but then I can feel iffy some mornings. After an hour I just wanted to come home. Slept from 1pm, hubby came up needing me to get up as DS2 had been sick all over him, so i got up, ran to the loo and was sick too. Got DS2 cleaned up, then lay on the sofa sleeping till 8pm (hubby got DS1 from school made them dinner while I played with the funny lights and tried to get the mice out my hair). I went to bed at 8pm. Then hubby got ill. Only one not had it (so far) is DS1.

Got my new windows being installed tommorrow, so HAD to get the house cleaned. Quite proud of myself (cos hubby has done nowt but take DS2 to nursery and now away to collect DS1, DS2 and my Dad who has a hospital appointment).

    Bathroom.

    Sink
    Loo
    Bath
    Window
    Floor

    Master bedroom

Window cleaned (no way was I letting anyone see it in that state!)
    Carp moved/hidden/binned (LOTS of it!)
Clothes from various piles and the TD sorted out, put away
manky tissues from beside bed put in bin (Honest, I had a snotty nose!)
    Junk from various places binned
    Floor hovered
    bedside cabinets cleaned
Febreeze sprayed round while doing the pixie dance

Now to do kids rooms, hall, stairs, kitchen and living room.

Taurus.. thank you!!! Only another 13 years then?? ... lol.. He has always been hard work.. much harder than the others but lately has been horrific.. and the last week or three just pure evil.. hubby wants to kick him out.. before he makes the others think it is ok to behave like a !!!!!!..

Wellllllllllllll....it was a sort of gradual improvement - started to get better (ish) by about age 20, and continued improving on a 1 step forward, 2 steps back format for a couple of years, then he met a girl and started to rent a house with her...they broke up - we shook in our shoes in case he started backsliding - but he moved in with a mate and they got together with another mate and got a mortgage on a house and that's where we are now. As for younger kids - understand what you husband means, but don;t forget that you ARE showing the others that thier big bro's bad behaviour won't be stood for so hopefully they'll learn from that!

......BTW would anyone like a free gift of a stroppy, irritable 17 year old girl who knows everything? post and packing FREE!

Oh - and I was a good girl and cleaned the fridge - off for my book fest now!

One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
  • i have been getting lots of cuddles too today, although charlie needs to learn to not just jump at me when he is doing it.

I thought i would put him down and see if he would have another kip as we have hit another tired and grumpy phase, but i can hear him banging the airer on the radiator.

Hope he nods off as i could do with washing up the lunch and breakfast stuff so that there isn't too much to do later. I am going to make a cuppa anyway, and hope he drops off in that time.

thanks for the suggestions for how to wrap up the voucher. I'm looking at cheap and cheerful as i have already spent a bomb on them (over 50 each) as the sisters always go mad on pressies, and then i feel obliged to spend the same amount. Crazy really.

I was a great teenager.. probably very little different to what I am now.. I've always been a bit mouthy.. I've actually been worse since I got to about 23.. I got sick of the 'how many children!!??' remarks and started stropping back! I wasn't a tearaway, I wasn't rude or lazy.. I did the cleaning and the cooking and the washing and the everything really.. I am all those things now!! lol

That 17 year old sounds a little more pleasant than my 16 year old.. I'll do you a swap.

And I fully intend removing the door if he doesn't toe the line... evil is my middle name... between 'nagging' and 'b!tch'

Well.. I've just hugged Eeyore to sleep and tucked him up all snug in his pram so Tiddles is happy.. maybe I should go do some flinging in the front room! .. oh .. I forgot to put the chook in the SC so I have to bung it in the oven now.. well in 15 minutes..

    Right.. opinions.. mad question...

on Saturday I got a phone call from a woman asking to speak to my husband.. on MY mobile.. now.. very few people have this number because I don't give it out randomly.. today she has rang again.. won't tell me her name or what she wants him for.. not even an 'I'm sorry I can't tell you that' so it isn't one of those moronic call centres.. plus it is a local number..

What do we make of it??

Oh.. I don't have any reason to believe hubby is playing away.. and if he was why would he give someone MY number?

  • Hmmm, interesting.

If you're happy OH isn't playing away (sorry, that sounds awful...), and her number has registered on your phone could you show it to him and tell him what's happened. He may just smack is hand to his forehead and say, "I knew there was something I meant to tell you....' and then come out with a perfectly reasonable explanation.

If it takes him a while to come up with a reason (and its very detailed) or he denies all knowledge a little too strenuously... then I dunno. I've got no answer for that scenario. I'd ask my OH straight out though.

It could be he's organised a fab surprise Christmas present for you and given your mobile number by mistake and she's phoning to organise delivery and she's been told not to speak if a woman answers....

Or you could call her back and see if someone answers with a company name....

Do something though or you'll stew.

Tried that.. noone answered.. can't have been caller display becuse I withheld my number (rang from home!)

He knows she rang at the weekend we took him the phone.. by the time he got to answer it she had rung off..

It is a good job I am not of a suspicious mind.. I am wondering if it is someone looking for someone with the same name.. let's face it.. Andrew isn't uncommon is it?! and that it is just a coincidence.

oh well.. time will reveal all I guess!!

Good news is.. I just checked my quidco and my £120 from my new house insurance has cleared so I'll be getting that back end of next week.. :D!!

Pigpen I doubt he is playing away, when would he have the time? LOL!

I'd tell her that as she is calling YOUR mobile, IF she wants to speak to him, she should tell you what it's about, as anyone calling about anything confidential to him, would have HIS number. And if she still insists on speaking to him, hand him the phone with the speaker phone on, it is your phone after all!

TODAY I have... and boy am I knackered! Bet I have lost loads of weight though!
