  • Hi everyone, I had a busy day yesterday and didn't post anything, although I did have a quick read.

Molly41, I am glad you got your hair sorted and your DH is going to help. I experienced hair loss 10 years ago during the menopause and it never grew back fully, so I understand your upset. I had to learn a whole new way of coping and am currently much happier than I was when it all happened. :o

BlueDoggy, you are right about the addictive nature of certain foods. I read the book Salt, Sugar, Fat by Michael Moss a few years back and it is an eye-opener.

Well done Bfh, that is great and I am glad you are feeling more human again.

I have another busy day, trying to get much sorted before the holiday break and it is a bit intense! :o

Hi Izadora and everyone else who is reading! :santa2:

  • Good evening everyone :xmassmile

Bfh congratulations on losing that lb :j, and hoping you soon feel back to full strength, there are some nasty bugs about.

Izadora thank you :) it’s odd, one square of 85% choc is quite satisfying enough, I couldn’t eat more, but the cheap ones are nonstop shovel-it-in :( and I feel ghastly afterwards. Something triggers the seeking it out and binging, I haven’t identified what yet.

FrugalLina thank you :) that book sounds interesting, I must see if I can get hold of a copy. I hope you’ve got your tasks sorted and are able to take it a bit easy.

Out to Christmas lunch today with a group of friends, very enjoyable. Luckily the venue was within walking distance (planet-saving medals are being worn :D) and even luckier I got there and back before the rain started; I even gave Junior Doggy a quick walk, too. It’s pouring now.

    So, today:
    B: porridge
L: white wine spritzer, soup, game pie with a selection of nicely cooked fresh vegetables, a delicious chocolate brownie with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream
Evening: four oatcakes with Marmite, cinnamon yogurt

Well done Bfh :T. Sorry you've haven't been well but at least a loss is a good benefit from it :)

Glad you had a good lunch Blue Doggy :)

I'm sneaking in with another 1lb gain :o. And I know where it's come from, eating too much rubbish. I consoled myself my eating tonight

I've realised tonight that I've one small present still to buy  my sister likes to give small tree presents Christmas evening,it's what we did as children as well, unfortunately I seem to have missed one of my nephews  sometimes little things are more difficult to buy that larger ones. I'll have to get my thinking cap on  as I really don't want to go into town at the weekend

    B - porridge and fruit
    L - cheese, crackers, apple
D - bacon, egg, mushrooms and tomato
S - pack of crisps, grapes, mince pie, chocolates

    Morning All,

I've been brave and got onto the scales yesterday and this morning, with rather variable results. I think the fact that I was quite a bit heavier today was probably due to having been to dinner with friends last night but it still wasn't as bad as I feared it could be so I'll hop on again tomorrow for my normal weigh in day.

Frugalina I hope your hectic day wasn't too bad and that you get a rest soon. That book sounds interesting, I might have to give it a read.

Blue Doggy Your lunch sounds lovely and well done for avoiding the rain. I wish I could say the same but, despite having an umbrella, I looked like a drowned rat when I got the train home last night.

Brambling Commiserations about the gain. It's a tough enough time of year to diet without the stress of worrying about your sisters.

My family always do small tree presents in the evening as well, although there have been a couple of years where they've ended up being Boxing Day presents if we've started on the wine too early and all fallen asleep after dinner :D

Hi everyone. It's been so long since I was really in here, I've lost track of all your progress but it seems thee's been some great losses and well done supporting each other.

This quarter has been a complete write off. I'm significantly heavier than I was when I started and it's pretty safe to say the situation isn't likely to improve any in the next couple of weeks. I know I really should give myself a talking to and rack on but I think I've run our of mojo this year.

I will most definitely be harnessing all my motivation in the New Year!

Brambling and Izadora, nice to hear others have a tradition of tree presents. We have always done tree presents with my parents (am an only child). We save them until Boxing day, mostly because we don't open our main presents on Christmas day until after dinner.

I doubt I'll be back her much before the new year so I'll wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2020. See you in the New year.
  • Good evening everyone :xmassmile

s_glover hi there :santa2: sorry to hear that things have gone off in the wrong direction, it’s a difficult time of year, (too much temptation about!). If you’re able to, join us again in the New Year and make a fresh start. :)

Izadora well done for braving the scales :T glad your worst fears were not realised. I hope tomorrow’s result will show it going back down again. The rain recently has been really dreadful, so sorry you got caught in it :(.

Brambling commiserations on the gain :( I hope you’re able to shake it off quickly. I hope you’ve found the perfect present for your nephew (is a nicely or wittily wrapped gift voucher suitable?)

I dashed out to get most of my Christmas food shopping this morning, the afternoon has been a washout with rain, hail, and thunder .

    Today’s menu:
    B: porridge
    L: hard boiled egg salad
D: veg soup, aubergine fennel & tomato bake, cinnamon yogurt
S: four oatcakes with Marmite (not big enough salad!)

s_glover I'll join you in the heavier-than-I-started camp. I know how disheartening it can be but keep coming back and hopefully we can get our heads in the right place in the new year and join the ranks of smiley faces. Have a fantastic Christmas and New Year.

Blue Doggy Well done on getting your food shopping done, that's very organised. I still need to make a proper list of what I actually need to get

I was very happily surprised this morning as over the last 2 weeks I've managed to lose -1.5lb.
I know it's not a lot and I'm still heavier than when we started the challenge but I was expecting to have put quite a bit on so I'm over the moon with that. All I can think is that the number of headless chicken, no-time-to-eat days I've had have counteracted the stuff-myself-with-chocolate ones.

It's my last day in the office today until 2nd Jan so, in case I don't manage to pop by before then, I hope everybody has a fantastic Christmas and New Year xx
  • The running around hasn't eased up just yet, but I am stuck indoors today waiting for the boiler man to come again (no hot water this time). Present wrapping is on the cards while I wait.

BlueDoggy and Izadora, the book is really interesting and it opens your eyes to the manipulation food manufacturers do to make us keep eating and eating.

Sorry about the weight gains Brambling, s_glover and well done Izadora on the loss. This time of year is a bit of a nightmare and we will all be ready to battle the bulge after the festivities are over. :)

I have been stress eating this week, so I may well be on the naughty step come Monday. :o:o

OK, need to get the present wrapping under way. Have a great day everyone!

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
