  • Good evening everyone :)

Brambling  was my first thought, then I thought, no, perhaps it’s a scientific experiment to find out how many cakes and mince pies result in how many pounds of weight gain, and Brambling is generously being her own guinea pig :rotfl:. Good luck for the next five days! :)

Izadora, CRANKY40 & SIRENS :j:j:j:j:j very well done! Especially with all your stressors of family and work. Congratulations.

Debbiedodge well done on maintaining your new weight, best of luck with balancing, have a good Christmas :).

FrugalLina Enjoy the party tomorrow, I hope your new nails will be much admired :).

Lunch out with friends today, everywhere packed with people doing the same. Hoping not too much damage done. The cheese was grated very finely, so a lot of bulk but little actual weight I think. I didn’t even look at the cakes, or the giant mince pies :A (need an emoji for irony).

    So, today:
    B: porridge with blueberries
L: jacket potato with cheese and a big salad, elderflower press!
    S: apple
D: spinach soup, steamed plaice with fennel and tomatoes, yogurt with blueberries

I've given myself a good talking to Blue Doggy other than lunch with my sister tomorrow between a long hair appointment (my natural highlights are showing) and Xmas shopping I'm aiming to be very very good until the next visit to the scales on Wednesday

    Morning all,

Not sure if this will help anyone but I found a recipe online which is a bit of a slimming world "tweak"....however if it stops me thinking of mince pies it's better as far as I can tell. It's supposed to be mince pie muffins, but I baked it in a square tin and sliced it so that it looks like flapjack.

80g couscous - add boiling water as you would normall and let it fluff up. Than add :-
3 tbsp quark (v low fat soft cheese)
    1 tbsp sweetener
    1 tbsp ground mixed spice
3 tbsp mince meat (95p for a jar of Robertsons from Home Bargains)
    2 eggs

Mix together and spoon into tin. Bake for 25 mins at 180C. Original recipe which is for 6 muffin cases said bake for 40 mins because muffins are deeper obviously. They were not beautiful. I prefer the slice thing because they look like flapjack.

I made some friends try them and they said they were edible. Not as edible as real mince pies (not making them yet for obvious reasons) but would satisfy a diet snacky craving.

Words have been had with the HT by the way and behaviour is being modified.

Take care all of you :)
  • Good evening everyone :)

Brambling :):A:) you can do it! You know you can!! Best of luck for Wednesday :).

CRANKY40 that recipe looks intriguing, I’d never thought of baking with couscous. Like you, I’m not thinking of mince pies any time soon.

    Eaten today was:
B: porridge with the last of the blueberries
    L: apple
D: spinach soup, red pepper same as Wednesday, cinnamon yogurt

    Hi all,

Been a funny week as I have been using up holiday at work, I was back today. I have not been doing much in the way of walking - I had been walking 2 miles each way to work and back. I have walked into town a couple of times to go Christmas shopping, but had far too much to carry home and resorted to the bus for the return journey.

I have altered my breakfasts to keep me fuller for longer (toast and fruit salad - rather than smoothie and vegan yogurt) it seems to work. I really could not keep up the vegan yogurt every pot just tasted worse than the previous one.

So I went back to work today, dispite not being as active in the last week, surprisingly my uniform was looser, I have had to order a smaller size and secure my trouser waist band with a safety pin to keep them up. It's only been 5 or 6 weeks since I last ordered a smaller uniform. Thankfully I wear a uniform so I don't have to buy smart work clothes.

Keep on doing whatever works for you.

Thank you for the receipt Cranky unfortunately I have succumbed to a couple of mince pies already :o
But I shall give your recipe a try, I've never baked with couscous either I guess the syns would be about 9 for the mincemeat and some for the sweetener, which is still less than I normal mince pie?

Today we are having lasagna and salad, not very healthy at all but family requested it so will try to catch up the rest of the week.

Mincemeat is 2 syns per tbsp and sweetener is half a syn per tbsp so 6 1/2 syns for the lot :D

Thanks for the recipe Cranky I may have to look for some mincemeat next time I'm out :)

Great news re the missing inches Sillyvixen :T

Carried out the boring stuff this morning, like getting the car washed and filled with petrol and air :). Picking up garden vouchers, cat food and a tip run :)

    B -
    L - cheese and apple
D - lamb shank casserole with pearl barley and dumplings (opps) green veg. Stewed apple and blackberries- I resisted turning it into a crumble

I'm meeting my sister in Chichester tomorrow the last time before Christmas, hopefully as we're both trying to lose weight we won't lead each other astray
