Hello, please may I join you mid-quarter?
I had some major surgery this year and have been recovering, so didn't want to start until ready. I have already lost a stone through not being able to eat much after the surgery, and now need to lose another stone and a bit, but my appetite has returned.
I need to lose 17lbs but this year, I'm aiming for 7lbs.
Thank you.Keep reading books!

Good evening, everyone!
wishus hello and welcome
Brambling the park you visited sounds lovely, and well done on STS while entertaining, and on pie-evasion!
SIRENS I Hope there was a good result from your dh’s blood test. Double quality control on pumpkin buns - someone’s got to do it!
honeythewitch STS isn’t a bad result, I hope you’ll get a loss soon (that seems odd to say, but I hope you know what I mean)
tigheningthebelt I’m very glad you enjoyed the bake!I hope your Halloween story was enjoyed.
FrugalLina thank you.
Izadora so glad you’ve still got your full set of limbs! Good luck if you decide to start 5:2 this week.Hopefully there’ll be lower calorie items available when you’re eating out.
honeythewitch, FrugalLina, tighteningthebelt it’s very interesting to read your memories of Halloween activities in your childhoods. Growing up in the 50s, there was no “trick or treat”, as far as I remember it only came over from the US in the last part of the last century. Celebrating Halloween wasn’t a big thing, and although we read about apple-bobbing and turnip carving they seemed to be on the way to being relegated to “folk customs”.
Today’s Doggy-munch:
B: plain porridge
S: one oaty biscuit (visiting a friend)
L: sardine salad, cinnamon yogurtrooty soup, cod with spiced green beans and tomatoes, yogurt with raspberries.

Hi Wishus, congratulations on your 1 stone loss and here's to the next 17lbs. I think 7lbs to the end of the year is very doable at 1lb a week.31.5/1000

honeythewitch sorry to hear you had a bad day yesterday. Hope today runs more smoothly. We did the peel throwing thing too, I had completely forgotten it!! Thank you for the reminder.
izadora sorry about the gain. I hope I dont sound like a stalker but I was reading back on some old threads here, seeing if i could get some tips, and noticed that you have had terrific losses in previous challenges - rows of smiley faces! So, I wanted to say - in encouragement and with great kindness - you can do it, you have the skills you need and you have proven your ability in the past. It's great that you're here, being so honest and keeping up with posting. Let us know how you get on with the 5:2.
frugalLina and molly41 cant believe you had complaints about the sweets. The cheek.
wishus sorry you've been poorly. Hopefully you'll find support here to rattle that 7lb off, that's a nice target in the time available, I'm sure you'll be successful.
I had a bit of an upset tummy last night, I think it was because of the cream in the stroganoff, maybe a bit rich for me. I'm not sure. When I started tackling my weight I quite deliberately chose not to cut any whole food groups out, so it's not like it's an intolerance to dairy or anything. Anyway I was up loads in the night listening to my tummy which sounded like a manufacturing plant working full pelt.
We got the passport renewal done online. There was a code on the printed photos and when you put the code in on the passport website, up pops the picture! We live in a wonderful world!! And its £10 cheaper online too. I had two more holes put in my belt at Timpsons while we were out, one for now one for later!!
I've not got much to do today, so I'm going to stay in bed an hour, do a bit of reading and take it easy this morning after the wakeful night.
Food wise, might edit later depending how I go...
Chicken in tomato and garlic sauce, potato cake, mange tous
Plain ff yogurt and strawberries with a few grapes.
I'm out later and will prob have a pint of lager shandy and a packet of plain crisps.
Enjoy the weekend!A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it

Welcome Wishus  it's always lovely to see a new face I'll add you to the table
I'm glad you didn't have to resort to blood letting Izadora. New week new start
Honey, tighteningthebelt I hope your feeling more yourselves today. well done on the new belt hole :T sometimes it's those things which are better than a weight lost
Yesterday was a bad diet day  thanks to the very nice man at the W8itrose wine bar where we went for lunchthe basic lunch would have been ok but he brought crisp, olives and nuts to nibble whilst we waited and then six nice chocolate biscuits with our tea/coffee and when we paid a plate of chocolates most of which were luckily wrapped so are hiding in my handbag now. We are both on a diet and obviously have the will power of a gnat. Again the family dinner was a healthy 'far eastern' type food but then I made a lemon and coconut Bakewell tart and my nephew made a chocolate birthday cake. Both dessert left overs have gone home with my hollow legged nephew
I've told my sister healthy eating plan today, I feel sluggish after yesterday's' eating

Honeythewitch, sorry about your stressful day, as a stress eater myself, I totally understand. How many calories in those cornets? It may not be as bad as you think. Just forgive yourself and move on as if nothing happened and you will be OK. Hope the stressors have gone now.
Tighteningthebelt, I hate those night-time tummies, they keep me awake too and I am up and down going to the loo, just in case something bad is happening, but it turns out to be general annoying gurgling.I have discovered that certain foods in the evening cause the discomfort and avoid them now.
How amazing about the code on the photos - technology is brilliant. I had to renew my driving licence recently (I can't drive at the moment, but I live in hope) and it was similarly as simple as all I had to do was enter my passport number and it magically used my fairly recent photo from that. :T
Brambling, what a lovely time you had for lunch, I didn't know W8itrose had a wine bar. I would have struggled to resist all those temptations, let alone the delicious bakewell tart and chocolate cake. Thank goodness for hollow legged nephews.
Enjoy a lighter eating day today as your digestive system recovers!
I managed to get rid of the remaining Halloween Haribos to my son and DiL who are off to London today for a long weekend. I shall be looking after their cat while they are gone and I am not looking forward to the walk round there in this rain. I am totally fed up with rain lately! :mad:31.5/1000 -
hello x
Well I enjoyed my shopping trip got a new bra and some new jeans plus a lightweight jacket. Darling husband and I chose my Christmas present and I bought his so very happy as we normally think of each other last in the queue as kids (well adult kids) come first.
I scooted about so didn't expend much energy although hubby did his 10,000 steps but i was exhausted when we got home.
Well done on the losses and STS and hugs for those who gained x
Kind regards xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
