I’m glad it’s going /went well KP, sorry I can’t remember if you said how long you are there for! Haven’t been to Canterbury for years and it’s quite close really, well done for being brave, I need to be more brave 😊

  • Was Debenhams the one scattered across multiple buildings? I remember the new Primark being a department looking store (with reindeer in front of it but that's from Christmas one day - they have such soft noses) so maybe BHS? That went under after my uni days.

Thank you all for your nice messages! Having a brilliant time and have taken up suggestions!

Yesterday I went to Margate, I was honestly a bit surprised how different one part of the town is to the rest. I think we found old town, there were lots of artists and antiques and (sorry can't think of a better word) junk shops. Some of them were very dark and looked like they only sell cursed items so I can say I loved it!

Also went to the shell grotto, I nearly didn't make it, I was completely shattered. But it was worth it, it's so beautiful and eerie at the same time. Also the shop had a lot of neat things, I bought a birthday gift for mum and a friend of mine there. Then went to a pub for a sit. There was a dog called Cyril, he was gorgeous and I love him.

Tried to go to the caves, but they were shut. Tried to go to the museum but also shut. Went to their contemporary art museum but I am not sure I am a contemporary art person, I just didn't like looking at half of it. Interesting though.

Then saw Joseph and his technicolour dreamcoat, was a lot of fun. Also had a pizza from the uni and lived in the past for about 30 minutes.

Today I have to drive home but have a few things I want to do first.

Cyril, @edinburgher was a basset hound with the deepest woof I've ever heard and he greeted everyone who came into the pub.

The campus pizza was actually amazing and I might go to my local university to get more.

Yesterday was my last day. I actually remembered to go down for breakfast, it was basic but good. I might have lost the car park again, but found both the car and some very confused Irish people. Wandered through all of the charity shops again, picked up a couple of bits.

Went to the beany. It was closed for the entire time I was at uni so it was something I was really excited to go into. The wonderful thing about going to somewhere alone is that you can skip whatever you want. I skipped the dead animals but lingered at the clangers. There is also beautiful paintings in the garden Room, 100% recommend.

Needed a rest at that point, ended up eating lemon meringue pie, I want you all to know how joyous it was.

Went back to the haberdashery, spent lots on material, they had so much beautiful things and I. Bought. Them. All. Ended up losing the car again, eventually found it again, no Irish people this time.

Went to tiny Tim's tea room, a lad of about 17-20 came in for an interview. Bless him, he was staring at th floor was when talking to anyone. Being the bossy kind of person I am, I told him chin up and he will be fine. The food was wonderful and the tea was really good, it was Bentley blue. Picked up cake and a tea towel to take home.

Went on the walk I used to go on, it was still very pretty. Met multiple dogs and then went to drive home. The cats missed me. It is the end of my adventure.

However I did email one of the recruiters who messages me every week to see how much they think I could make by taking a new job. Potentially up to 15k more than I am currently on so it's time to start thinking. This is due to the time elapsed since I qualified and the crazy jobs market.

Sounds like it's been a great adventure. And definitely no harm in getting more info on an alternative role - that would be a huge uplift

Mm, there's an update at work and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Essentially they are giving me and the other seniors different roles in addition to our normal jobs.  But no additional money. I need to have a think about whether I think that my new duties would be beneficial to me in terms of development or if it's better to move on more quickly because I'm already over capacity.

Any thoughts or past experiences welcome!

£15k extra sounds a lot more palatable than doing extra work for free
